Does airport and hands off work with wdn4800 after installing the required kext??

ISSUE:
Updated Siera to Mojavi and my TL-WDN4800 N900 stopped working.
The system no longer recognized the wireless hardware.

SOLUTION:
Download: KextBeast from TonyMacx86 and install onto the desktop.
Download: The IO80211Family.kext onto the desktop and open the zip file onto the desktop. (Special thanks to cmn699's upload! dated July 27, 2018)
In FINDER:
Manually delete the file old version of IO80211Family.kext: It is located in System -> Library -> Extensions -≥ IO80211Family.kext.
Now open KextBeast. CONTINUE - CONTINUE - AGREE - And select install in the /System/Library/Extentions folder.
CONTINUE - Finish... Once you see the success window... Restart your computer...

This should allow your system to now see the TL-WDN4800 N900 and allow you to connect you to your router.

-Best of luck!

THANK YOU!

I was struggling with this for quite a while after installing Catalina over a fully working copy of Mojave.
In the end I deleted IO80211Family.kext and Atheros kexts from both L/E and S/L/E - doing this from my Mojave install as Catalina wouldn't allow the deletion of IO80211Family.kext - then installed just IO80211Family.kext to EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other and, hey presto, working wifi!

Good trick:thumbup: This technique will probably be needed more and more as Catalina moves forward.

Also, please complete your profile with details of your hardware. This will help others :)

This forum has helped me so much over the years - hope this trick does work for those still struggling as I was!

Interesting, what I did was remove my drive and use a USB to Sata adapter to add the 80211kext modified from Mojave to S/L/E and it works. If you try to do anything to the System Kexts it won’t take unless you remotely access it from another Mac or Hack. If it’s loaded as primary drive no editing is allowed.

Install 1080211Family.kext (uploaded as zipped) to your Mojave System Disk's Library /Extensions , System Library/Extensions folder using any of the following ->Kext Utility|Kext Wizard/KextBeast

Big thanks for this!

I installed using Kext Utility and it works beautifully on my Mojave Hackintosh, .

Although I could use a USB adapter (I have access to a couple of TP-Link TL-WN823N adapters) I find that USB adapters will drop the connection after an hour or two and have to be reconnected either physically or through software.

However, the TL-WDN4800 connection remains so stable, I bought an additional adapter for my second Hackintosh!

Thank you cmn699 for your help.

Installed the 1080211Family.kext in my EFI-folder (/Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/)..
Rebooted and ... Bardaf!
