Mojave Installation Issue - ASUS Maximus XI Hero II Z390

Hello, I am having an issue with my build, its been a long time since I played with hackintosh.

The error seems to be Apple NVME Assert Failed

I am using a Asus Maximus XI Hero Z390 with a Intel 9700K, and a MSI RX Vega 64 Card.

I have gone through all the BIOS Settings and ensured they are correct according to the build instructions and tried many different suggestions from other threads with Clover config options.

Could you please advise me on what to do from here?

I'm about to throw this thing through a wall. I've done every suggestion I can possibly find and I cannot reach the installer. I keep getting this error. Please see screenshots.

Thanks CMN699, here is further information based off the article you sent me, hopefully somebody can help.

As for specifications,

ASUS Maximus XI Hero Z390 Board, BIOS is the latest 1105.
Intel 9700K
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro CMW64GX4M4C3000C15 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4
Corsair HX850 Power Supply
MSI Radeon RX Vega 64

Had a Samsiung 970 EVO NVme M.2, saw the compatibility issues and have since removed it from the build, hopefully I'll be able to add it to the build post installation?

Only one WD 4TB HDD attached to a SATA3 Port is installed in the computer, no other SATA or PCIE devices attached.

I picked all of these components as they were on the Recommended Hardware Buyers Guide, all inside a Fractal Define R6 Case.

I have followed Storks guide. the UniBeast installation guide and various others related to this board or the Hero X.

I have tried using the output for the RXVEGA 64 and also the onboard graphics via the HDMI.

BIOS Settings are set at Optimised Defaults, with these changes made.

CPU Fan Speed - Ignore
XHCI Handoff - Enabled
CFG Lock - Disabled
VT-d - Disabled
Above 4G Decoding - Enabled
Secure Boot - Disabled (Removed the PK Key)
OS Type - Other OS
Fast Boot - Disabled
Display Logo - Disabled

Cannot find an option in this BIOS to disable a Serial I/O Port?

I have attached my EFI and config file, I have only made basic changes to either so hopefully that helps somebody see what I'm missing. The only thing I haven't tried yet is unplugging the GPU entirely. I've tried the complete Clover bootloader install of the latest version, 4972, and the Unibeast 4920 build. I have done nothing with the DSDT, I have tried using various DSDT custom patches from the full Clover Bootloader but nothing worked.

I am booting with only dart=0 and verbose mode.

I recreated the USB from scratch, did the BIOS from scratch, now this is the boot log I am being displayed. Prior it was always stopping at the NVRAM issue, now it isn't getting that far! Please see attached screenshots.

Hopefully somebody can help me resolve this!

• My comments with your post and uploads:
• The verbose boot screen on the Left is legible and I found nothing pinpointing to any issue.
• The Second Verbose boot Screen on the Right is too hard to read. As much as I could try to focus, I found no smoking gun in that too.
• The first Verbose boot has gone to the extend when Graphics are to be loaded.
• Based on that , I would look for problems with Graphics.
• I then looked at your BIOS options.

• I don't find anything wrong in the BIOS items you have chosen as listed .
  • But I don't know why there is nothing in your BIOS choice about the Graphics you have chosen as the Initial Display output?
  • You have two Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630 as IGFX and AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 as PCIE
  • If you don't make the BIOS choice of the Initial Display Output, CLOVER Bootloader can get confused about Graphics selection to continue the boot.
• I looked for any clue from EFI_CLOVER FileTree.
  • Drivers 64UEFI contents are acceptable
  • kexts/Other Acceptable
  • config.plist: I would suggest making Rt Variable_CsractiveConfig 0x67
• Based on my reading of what you have posted, my current suggestion is to recheck BIOS and edit as needed
  • Advanced > System Agent (SA) Config > Primary Display > PCIE if you have the Monitor connected Digitally(HDMI|DVI|DP) to your PCIE AMD Radeon RX Vega 64.

Thank you for the reply. Yes I am running the monitor off the graphics card. I changed to PCIE under the BIOS settings you outlined, and I also changed the RT Variable_Csractiveconfig to 0x67 in the config file. Please see attached the new verbose screen, it has reverted to the original error I was having. Apologies for the photos I tried to make them much clearer this time.

I am facing a similar issue when updating the Asus bios of my XI Hero to 1105. Reverting back to bios 1005 resolves the problem. Give bios 1005 a try.

How do I revert? I downloaded the 1005 BIOS but when I try to flash it it says not a valid BIOS file.

Must have downloaded it ten times on 5 different USBs every time I get the same error 'selected file is not a proper BIOS'..

Ok got past the BIOS issue, now I am facing this issue. Still waiting for root device, however the last of the verbose log reads like this before it switches to the crossed out circle.
