Means the next Mac Pro refresh, in the latter 2020s, will not look like a cheese grater.

I have to agree both. Spot on.

Can't help but feel it's more like the end of an era though - no Steve Jobs and no Jony Ive ...

I think that Apple will be fine without Jony. I don't think Jony Ive is indispensable anymore.

How long has it been since we have seen a fresh iMac design?
How long has it been since we have seen a fresh Mac mini design?
How long has it been since we have seen a fresh (and problem free) MacBook Pro design?

I think that everything in Apple's current lineup just needs incremental, evolutionary updates.

But, yes, it's definitely the end of an era.

Maybe Apple can bring back Frog Design.

I think it would be cool to make beige beautiful again.

 I was wondering if Apple might slip back into that whole 1990's thing again!

There were certainly some lovely, slim, futuristic beige designs back then - The Macintosh LC for example.

I was a big fan of many of the Frog Design Macs and prototypes. Apple beige always looked better than everyone else's.

Didn't know that Frog even designed the NeXT cube. Which later shrunk into the G4 Cube and then the Mac mini.
The black cube was rather ugly if you ask me. Kind of looks like some kind of radiator.

Absolutely  Imagine a Macintosh LC or LC II with a beige thin LCD monitor and thin keyboard. It would look pretty good I reckon.
