I have been reading all of you posts with supporting folks with HP 8300 SFF trying to use RX 560. I appreciate how much help you provide. I have High Sierra, HP 8300 SFF currently configured with a Nvidia 710. I purchased the MSI Radeon 560 and have been trying to get it to work but no success. Upon bootup, it gets about 80% then the monitor loses connection. I'd be grateful if you could steer me in the right direction. I have provided my EFI folder.
Thanks!

There really shouldn't be anything that needs to be done to use the RX 560. For me, it was just plug-n-play.

You can try updating to a newer version of Clover and AppleALC, Lilu, and WhateverGreen.

Remember, IntelGraphicsFixup, IntelGraphicsDVTMFixup, and NvidiaGraphicsFixup have all been depreciated and their functionality has been rolled in to WhateverGreen. So, if/when you upgrade to WhateverGreen, you should delete those 3 kexts.

I'm hoping for support for Q77 chipset and Ivy Bridge to continue with 10.15 and I think it will.
Great news. Apple's macOS Catalina will still continue support for Ivy Bridge systems like the 8300s so many people are using. Means you get to keep your system definition whether you use iMac 13,2 or Mac mini 6,1 or 6,2. HD4000 will still be supported as well as all of the Kepler cards that were supported in Mojave. What happens after 10.15 is anyone's guess but this extension of support through next year is awesome.

It seems like Apple is supporting Macs longer than they had in the past. The 2010 Mac Pro was officially supported up until Mojave. That's 9 years.

Kexts need to be rolled back like Atheros40 as the read only kexts can't be modified anymore. But they work. It has a dynamic mode as well so you can keep track of the time of day/night if you're locked in the basement.

I have just done the same as you; GT710 to RX560 in a HP 8300 CMT. I just replaced the card and so far so good - I have not done extensive testing but the machine boots and seems usable. Currently on a single HDMI monitor at 1440p. I'm not an EFI expert but that is on the list to learn!

An update on the GT710 - RX560 update. Second monitor over HDMI worked, so now running dual 1440p (DP and HDMI).

Spent all day using the machine, flawless. However, went away and then came back and machine had rebooted (I know because it was stuck on the press F1 to continue at BIOS screen). This is a major blow, as the GT710 setup would have weeks (months) of uptime before I rebooted for some reason.

Any tips on troubleshooting random restart? My suspicion is it may be a sleep issue, but that is only a hunch. My output from `pmset -g`is:

System-wide power settings:
Currently in use:
standby 1
Sleep On Power Button 1
womp 0
hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage
powernap 0
networkoversleep 0
disksleep 10
sleep 20 (sleep prevented by mds)
autopoweroffdelay 14400
hibernatemode 0
autopoweroff 1
ttyskeepawake 1
displaysleep 15
standbydelay 4200

Do you have any crash logs?

Nothing immediately obvious in Console.app but not sure exactly what I should be looking at? Somewhere else?

When you rebooted, did you the window asking if you want to send the panic log to Apple?

No I didn't get this (I know the window you mean). Chrome prompted me to restore tabs, and other windows re-opened. But no error messages.
