This is good for everyone, it forces Intel to innovate/drop prices (the latter is rare with them).

I bought the 9980XE brand new sealed off eBay for $1,499, that person wanted to go AMD so saved me $500 :D

It's all connected.

Wait until the new Ryzen's come out next month. You're going to see people dump these CPUs on eBay.

Yep good news for all of us. Hopefully intel comes back swinging in a couple years or so with 10/7nm + ddr5/pci5. My 7980XE will last until then.

If we look at it from a broader point of view, just 1-2 years ago you'd think we're crazy here talking about 56 cores, 64 cores...

Just 2 years ago a quad core was the norm for consumers, now 16cores are consumer level.

Thanks AMD!

Yeah thought 18 cores was crazy! Now it feels so small... threadripper later this year is supposed to be 64 cores :O
I certainly don’t need all these cores but do I want? Yes =P

Yes I understand your point, but the added value here is the fact it's a delidded/Liquidmetal CPU with a custom copper HIS (I don't know how to delid and apply Conductonaut by myself, never done it). Do you think I'll find a bunch of liquidmetal i9s next month?

Not a bunch, but I guarantee you will see some being dumped on eBay. Keep a lookout and set an alert, that's how I got the great deal on the 9980XE (I lucked out).

You can also use a delidding service if you don't want to do it yourself. They have warranty and testing and if they ruin it they will pay you back.

But I'm sure you will also see few more delidded 79xx CPUs with a custom IHS on eBay soon with a lower price. Give it a month unless you're in a rush or don't care about saving $.

Hey guys,

I have a Gigabyte X299, and, because the KGP thread is closed, I am posting this here :

Mobo : Gigabyte X299 Designare EX
GPU : AMD Radeon VII MSI
PSU : Corsair RM850x
RAM : 32Go Corsair

The main features is working very fine, I have more than 50K score in Luxmark but I have some little issue :

1) The bottom Ethernet port isn't working with IntelMausiEthernet.kext, only the first one.
2) When it sleeps, I need to reboot because of a kernel Panic
3) I tried a lot of things but TB3 hotplug isn't working.

Thank you !

Please attach copy of your EFI folder. This way we can see how things are implemented.

Over the last 2 days I have completely reconfigured my X299 with a clean install of Windows 10 on a 240GB SSD and Mojave on a 1TB NVME M2 with everything set up correctly and functioning as expected. The are a few minor fixes I plan to do in Mojave, but it's not anything that will affect the software I will running.

I am very happy with the build, all I really need now is a Radeon Vega VII and I'm ready for FCPX.
