Thanks for putting this guide out. I'm going to be building a new system pretty soon and wanted to see if the couple issues in the original post have been ironed out yet - out of the box processor support by 10.14.5 and if NVRAM support is workable in the bios yet (and if that is recommended over the clover NVRAM method).

I think I'm going the same route as others in trying to do a dual graphics setup for mac (integrated) and windows (nvidia).

macOS 10.14.5 shows the CPU as an i9-9900K when using iMac19,1

Still on NVRAM support in the latest version of the UEFI. Also once you update to 2411 there is no option to downgrade.

The only advice I'd have for you is to switch out the nvidia cards for AMD. It just takes a massive headache out of building and maintaining as AMD works out of the box from what I can see.

Also, I deviated slightly from the guide as set my SMBIOS to 19,1, and, also, in the BIOS enabled integrated graphics, multi monitor support and setting the graphics to PCIe. This stopped any issues with Preview/Quicklook not working with JPG.

Other than that, everything works great and the NVRAM emulation is pretty fast.

Can I use same steps with your build ?
What will happen if NVRAM doesn't worked? Is it will effect on system stability? I need this machine for 4K video editing with Final Cut Pro X only and Mojave?

Well mine worked perfectly, I did do a couple of changes though:
1. set SMBIOS to 19,1 when doing the MultiBeast step of the process.
2. Set BIOS to enable IGPU, multi monitor support and PCIe as the selection for graphics.

The BIOS changes helped my sort out the preview issue where you get a spinner when looking at large JPG's

Honestly, I haven't even plugged in the WiFi etc., as my network is wired in. The extra $20 was negligible in the build to get Bluetooth, and thought I'd figure it out down the track. (I didn't have time to sort it out yet or research it.)

If Bluetooth works it would be great - especially if I can use unlock by Apple Watch.

Thats exactly right (Pro V Gaming etc). Given they are both Z390 Asus Tuf series MB's there shouldn't much variance in the Bios.

Don't be scared, its kind of fun and you know two people who have it up and running - one of them is the Top guy on the site!

My advice when starting out and building this particular one is (to make it successful):

1. Follow MacMan's instructions on this post exactly (and I mean exactly), and remember he is also referring to the standard install instructions which are here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...ojave-on-any-supported-intel-based-pc.259381/
2. Upgrade to latest BIOS before starting the process.
3. Do the Bios recommendations on the standard install, then do Macman's recommendations in his post before installing.
4. I've put my BIOS recommendation in as well on top of this, as I'm running an AMD Vega 64 graphics card, where MacMan used the HD632 integrated graphics (no graphics card). These settings got rid of the jpg preview fail and are:
   1. BIOS: Enable IGPU, multi monitor support and PCIe as the selection for graphics.
   2. MultiBeast: set SMBIOS to 19,1

The only issue that slowed me down was merging the config files using the command MacMan gave for plistbuddy in terminal. To solve this I just made sure the files were in the same Clover directory, and made sure I navigated to this before running his command.

One last bit - after you've installed, use Clover Configurator to mount the EFI folder if you can't find them as that's where the config files are (just in case you're new to doing this - took me a while to figure it out on my first run!)

Finally, I decided in these components. (I understand that SSD and RAM doesn't really play big game in compatibility so I went for the cheapest.)

CPU : Intel I9-9900K, 3.60Ghz, 16 MB, LGA1151
RAM : Ballistix Sport LT BLS4C16G4D240FSC/BLS4K16G4D240FSC - 4 x 16 (64GB) DDR4
SSD : 2 x Crucial P1 CT1000P1SSD8 - 1 TB (3D NAND, NVMe, PCIe, M.2)
FAN : Noctua NH-D15
FW : SYBA SD-PEX30009 - PCI-Express Firewire

The case comes with USB 2 ports so I don't think I'm gonna need the USB hack used by MacMan. If some of this components doesn't seem right I will appreciate some input.

About the Firewire card, I read around here that it just works with hackintosh.

If everything is OK, I will buy everything ASAP^^

Hey All,

What would I need to change in this build if I am using the Asus ROG Strix Z390-E vs the PRO with the Intel Core i9-9900K? I've been having install issues after getting to post-installation (after installing everything the computer won't let me get past apple logo before crashing.
