[Success] Mini-ITX build GIGABYTE Z390 I AORUS PRO WiFi + i9 9900K

After reading this entire thread I'm amazed that no one has had my only problem, which is that "Shutdown" from the Apple menu always results in a restart. "Restart" works fine, but to shut down I have to use the "hold power button for a few seconds" method. Have tried many config.plist changes, different UEFI driver schemes, reinstallation of Mojave 10.14.5, changing SMBIOS, etc. but nothing has worked.
UEFI/BIOS is Gigabyte version F5 (latest at this writing) for the Z390 I AORUS PRO WIFI. Build number of 10.14.5 is 18F132. This system did shut down properly under High Sierra 10.13.6 Build 17G7024 (and previous), but updating to Mojave seems to have caused the problem. If anyone has suggestions I will appreciate them very much! (Also "Heaven" and "Valley" OpenGL benchmark apps no longer open.) Thanks for reading.

I have the exact same build as you and I've been trying for 2 days now to solve the "shutdown=restart" problem.
I'm not having any luck.

Still not solved here, plus "Preview" doesn't work, either. I've even re-installed Mojave, with no improvement. I'm seriously considering going back to High Sierra 10.13.6, which worked fine.

[Edit: "Preview" fixed using Vulgo's kext.]

You mean "Quick Look" I guess? Choose file and space bar to preview? For 10.13.6 I had to install the Lilu plugin NoVPA kext Just remember to use correct version with Lilu.kext. Strange thing I am not running that on Mojave and I have no problems with Quick Look. Wish I could give you a golden answer for your sleep issue. You are running SMBIOS 18,03?

Yes, I installed vulgo's Lilu plug-in and it fixed Preview (see my Edit above).

It's a Shutdown, not a Sleep problem (although Sleep may be affected too, I don't know). Yes, I am at the moment using iMac 18,3 but the Shutdown failure also occurs on iMac 19,1.

And yes I also tried 18,3 and 19,1 and no luck. I don't use sleep so I'm not sure if that was affected either.

Just checked Sleep; it works fine. Video goes away instantly, then some fan speed changes, then computer goes to sleep. To come back I hit "Shift," but takes a while. Display comes up with last window. I guess the only problem is "Shutdown." Again, this is using SMBIOS iMac 18,3.

[Edit: Tried a "bunch" of Shutdown "Fixes" none of which worked. Most involved variations of drivers in CLOVER such as changing from "AptioMemoryFix.efi" to one of the other, earlier "OSxAptioFix..." drivers, adding the boot argument "slide=0" and "EmuVariableUEFI..." or various combinations of these. Nothing works. Even tried a "OSsAptioFix2-free2000.efi" with and without the "EmuVariableUEFI..." and some other variations. This is a very severe problem that has been talked over a lot on various forums, but no one seems to understand the root cause and has a fix that actually works.]

So I somehow managed to get it to work without doing anything special again other than reinstalling and trying things over and over again about thirty times... I'm not sure what I changed or if my UniBeast USB was bad, but I was having trouble getting the installs to work.
It took about four reboots to get the install to finish this last time, I used MultiBeast like usual, and then used Clover Configurator to add the "slide=0" and used SMBIOS 19,1 this time. Preview, sleep, etc all seem to be working.

Wow, I entered late from the detail of the wifi-bt card, returning the board after losing a day trying to activate it. :thumbdown:mad:
I don't know which one to bet now.....:?:

Bluetooth does work but the WiFi will never work on the Gigabyte Z390 I AORUS PRO WIFI board. You will have to use USB WiFi if that's what you need. I personally never use WiFi, or Bluetooth so its not a problem for me.
