Laptop Screen won't wake automatically upon sleep unless keyboard button is pressed

not sure if it makes a difference in the system, or difference in DSDT, but on my dell 7573 when I open lid the login screen is displayed automatically without pressing power button. but when laptop is open and goes to sleep, I have to press power button for laptop to wake

You mentioned about opening the lid displays the login screen automatically, so just confirming, you don't have to press a keyboard key to display the screen? Is there anything you can see from my files that could cause you needing to either press the power button or a keyboard key to wake up? My laptop when the lid is opened, the keyboard backlight activates and the power button is illuminated just the screen doesn't wake automatically. I do have QE/CI and hardware acceleration for my Intel 630 enabled and even with or without the VRAM 2048 patch, doesn't make a difference.

No I DO NOT press button to display screen when opening laptop from sleep. but if im using laptop while open, and laptop goes to sleep, I THEN have to press power button to wake screen. can you confirm you have "wake on clamshell open" active in system power settings? Also, looking at your DSDT you don't have "usb_prw_0x6d" patch which I believe is for instant wake

Here is the image of my power settings. You can see mine does show yes to clamshell open.

I don't have certain options like GPUSwitch like you do. I do have the Nvidia 1050ti but it's disabled which just noticed and I doubt has anything to do with this issue. Could the SMBIOS be related? I tried switching from MacBookPro14,1 to MacBookPro14,3 and while the screen remains off, when I wake the screen, I now get the login screen which doesn't show the password field until I start typing in the password so notice something different by switching SMBIOS so maybe there is another one I can use.

what about your DSDT? do you have usb_prw_0x6d patch applied?
Yes I do I use the SSDT-PRW.aml hot patch with the clover patch. USB devices can plug in and not wake the computer so I know it's working.

oh what the heck, my power settings dont say anything about wake on clamshell open, and im pretty sure i have usb_prw_0x6d patch applied. Im assume that setting should be there? Should i open a new thread?

when I checked your DSDT in your debug files, I didn't see that patch applied

Hey man saw your thread too. Have you tried the command 'sudo pmset lidwake 1' as that sets the clamshell option. Also and this is unrelated, how do you have the GPUSwitch option? Do you have 2 graphics cards working with Mojave? I have 2 as well but have to disable the Nvidia 1050ti as Optimus is not supported.

sudo pmset lidwake 1 didnt seem to do anything. Still doesnt wake from sleep on lid open.

i did get this output from terminal
Code:
MacBook-Pro:~ brian$ sudo pmset lidwake 1
Password:
Warning: Idle sleep timings for "Battery Power" may not behave as expected.
- Disk sleep should be non-zero whenever system sleep is non-zero.
Warning: Idle sleep timings for "AC Power" may not behave as expected.

As far ass the GPUSwitch, I have no idea. Im using Rehabmans config.plist for HD520, and I only have the iGPU
