I'm trying to switch over to a NVME boot drive on my z87X.

I have a Samsung 970 PRO on a PCIe adapter here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F9SMXQ1/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

I have successfully cloned my boot drive and updated to Mojave and the drive works great.

However, when the PCIe card is inserted, I lose all presence of my XFX RX580 and my monitors don't show up. This is true regardless of which PCIe slot I plug the adapter card into.

Here is my PCI list without the NVME installed on a High Sierra boot:

408015

And here it is with NVME installed on a Mojave boot:
408016

There's some kind of conflict here but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance.

You are using a GA-Z87X-UD7 TH, correct? Into which PCIe slot did you put your RX 580?

If it is the PCIeX16_2 slot (the second slot from the CPU socket), which is recommended in the manual when only ONE expansion card is installed, then this problem is "normal". In the manual it says :

The PCIEX16_2 slot will become unavailable when either of the PCIEX16_1, PCIEX16_3, PCIEX8_1, and PCIEX8_2 slots is populated.

Which means that if your graphics card is in that slot and you installed another PCIe card into one of the other PCIe x16 slots, that PCIeX16_2 slot will be DISABLED, and that is why your graphics card stopped functioning.

So, is your graphics card installed in the PCIeX16_2 slot? If so, please try moving the card to the PCIeX16_1 slot (the first slot from the CPU socket).

YES! I should have figured this was the direction of troubleshooting.

I am now hanging on ACPI errors as shown with RX580 in PCI slot 1.

I think I will have to spend the time to rebuild a fresh Clover install.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Hi. I have the same board as you and want to run the newest Mac s. I have a nvidia 980 graphic card and want to run that name setup. Any chance you can help me build my drive?
