software update - didn't update clover or kexts - also had those pesky purple lines during the update but everything is fine so far.

Updated over the weekend from 14.4 to 14.5. Everything went smooth, but I get the purple lines on Apple logo screen. My monitor flashes twice and then my video is visible. I also lost use of my on-board video, which is the HD 530. It was working fine with 14.4 but does not work in 14.5. I currently have to use the AMD video card, RX 560. Other than that, all is ok.

Anyone else experience loosing on-board video, and if so, any solutions yet?

I get the purple lines at every boot. And seems like my default desktop is shifting from one screen to another as well. I do not have the onboard video enabled, I use only the AMD Vega 56. It is not a big deal but rather annoying. Probably will need to wait until someone more experienced takes a look at it and finds a solution.

no issues, other that horizontal purple lines close to Audio Equalizer Like effect :) and just in the top 2-3 inches of screen, went away by themselves. NO purple lines on reboots after update completed, runs normal, clover 4920. Updated from app store, initial install was from a couple of weeks back 10.14.4.08

Overall: update went without issues.

Updated Clover & AppleALC.kext prior.

3 restarts - initial, 2 during the update.

Purple lines did appear during the installation, as well as post-installation to initial log-in post installation. Admittedly, expected the first set of purple lines, but not the second, nor the third set - a bit freaky, but all went well - progress bar continued to move during the installation phase with the lines on the screen. The last set, prior to log-in, was a bit scary as the screen blacked out for a bit, though the hard disk light kept going. I left it alone and the log-in screen eventually came up - whew! :D

This update went very smooth. Here's what I did before and after updating:

- Before launching the update installer I did a backup with CCC (and checked if backup volume was bootable), saved last working EFI on Dropbox, updated Clover and removed the VgTab fixes from the config.plist

- Since I have a Vega 64, I'm also experiencing the purple lines in verbose mode, right before the apple loading logo.

- With the installation completed I have applied the new USB patches for 10.14.5 (but during the verbose boot I can still read some enumeration failures with USBs... by the way, they seem to work fine).

- On the next reboot, after having fixed USBs I have noticed that my Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 64 seems to be correctly power managed by the OS:
a) the fans operates in "zero noise mode" - they don't spin until the GPU reaches critical temps
b) even when fan spins they never get too loud (I checked fan speeds right after a stressfull unigine heaven benchmark: only 1400 rpms @ 59°)
c) finally the annoying coil whine seem to be gone!

Further impressions may come on the next days!

During the update, I did see some random purple lines on the screen for a few seconds. I ignored it and the update continued fine.
I almost have same as your system but why it's not reading my CPU? I have it under (3.6 GHz UNKOWN) ?
