HD 5870 in Mojave?

Hi Fellow Hackintoshs.

I'm just wondering, Does the HD 5870 work natively in Mojave? I've heard older HD and Radeon GPU's working fine but just wanted to see before building a new Hackintosh Rig.

Thanks a lot, guys!

Jacob (JacobTheTechy)

The HD 5870 is not supported in Mojave due to lack of Metal support, Apple's graphics framework.

You will need at least HD 7xxx, for example a HD 7870.

Crap, Just gave a mate an HD 7870, it has pixel issues but I was thinking of repairing it... Do you think Apple will release Nvidia web drivers soon for Mojave? I have a few Nvidia cards that i'd be fine with using (Hackintosh isn't my main machine) If they do, ill buy a second hand GTX 960 or GTX 980.

No, I don't think there will be Nvidia web drivers any time soon, if at all.

The GTX 760 / GTX 770 is still natively supported in Mojave, so if you want to run Mojave you may try to source one of these cards.

What are those Nvidia cards that you have?

Atm, I have an Nvidia GT 530 2GB, GT 120 512mb (From original Mac Pro) and a Gigabyte GT 8800, All crappy and basic but I've been using the GT 530 in El Cap and it works fine, but when I put Mojave on it... I think you know what I'm on about... If that's true with the 7xx series cards being natively supported in Mojave, I just buy one of those, I'm in Australia and I think their really good for the price on eBay and second-hand places

I see. None of the cards you have will work properly in Mojave.

Please note that only the 760 / 770 (Kepler) will work. Don't buy 750 / 750 Ti as they are using a different chip (Maxwell) and is not supported in Mojave due to the lack of Nvidia web drivers.

Hello,
I'm new to hackintosh installation and I'm having problems with my graphics card.
I know it is not compatible with Mojave (metal) but it correctly identifies the card but not the 1gb of memory shows only 5mb.
How to fix this, several programs complain about the lack of video memory?

Hello Feartech,
what a great answer for building an alternative computer to run a system that is not made for it.
