FIX for boot hangs after BIOS update (ACPI PATCH)

Well, that was certainly not how I planned to ruin my evening. I upgraded my Gigabyte Z370P D3 to BIOS F13 and bam, no more booting. No KP, no error, just hangs at RPIsensor.. something. Even my Unibeast installer didn't work anymore!

Since I don't have a second system with a M.2 slot I was pretty screwed. Thankfully @mattystonnie I found this topic you started and was I able to first change the config.plist for Clover on another Mac, then boot into the Mojave installer and open terminal. Copy the config.plist of my machine, edit it on the other Mac and copy it back. All fixed now!

I would definitely recommend making this patch default on Clover installs.

Confirmed working on Asus Z390-H Gaming.
Added the patch to Clover manually after BIOS update using a Linux live USB. The hex must be inserted in config.plist in base64.

Is there feedbacks for using the patch on laptop bios ?
How the patch works is also not clear to me because the Find/Replace hex values matches with no text ?

Didn’t tried on laptop. Do you have problems after bios update?

I still not proceed, but will have to do because Dell released a critical bios update for my laptop.
Will let you know if the patch can help if I have issue

The patch is for coffee lake and up.
I don’t have experience in installing mac os on a laptop but I’ll try a patch if this one doesn’t work.
I’ll need your DSDT.aml, use your usb install stick and hit F4 at clover boot menu. Then you’ll need to access the EFI partition of the USB, the dsdt.aml will be in clover/ acpi/ original.

My laptop is a Dell as per profile - still not try the patch (still not proceed to bios update)
