[TOOL] VGTab: Control your Vega in macOS without flashing the vBios

And thank you for understanding about each time edit plist))) it was pain on 20th-30th edit and reboot)

Lol. Yes. I know.

I just did a test:

10:15pm System idle. Vega fan= ~780-800rpm, Vega temp= 38C. Ambient temp= ~25C
10:16pm Start Unigine Heaven benchmark. Ultra setting. 1920x1080 resolution.
10:18pm Benchmark at 50%. Vega fan= ~3100rpm, Vega temp= 69C
10:20pm Benchmark finished. Vega fan= ~2700, Vega temp= 66C. Quit Heaven app.
10:22pm System idle. Vega fan= ~2900rpm, Vega temp= 36C
10:24pm System idle. Vega fan= ~1800rpm, Vega temp= 35C
10:26pm System idle. Vega fan= ~800, Vega temp= 38C

* I had Safari open during Heaven benchmark which caps Heaven to 60fps.

Also, have you tried Mojave 10.14.5 public beta? It's supposed to have all the fan issues fixed...

Hm, i see it takes 6 minutes in your case to calm fan. Its too long too) and i see at 10:22 your rpm was rising ))) and at 10:24 its to fast 1800 for 35 degrees)
I want too try beta, but i need to back up first and copy system to other hdd, then load from clone and then update to 1.14.5 beta. And i dont know how right to clone. Mojave and its apfs has many disks and partitions, just dont know how right to do it. Or i can try fresh install today later.

Yes, it took a few minutes for the fans to settle back down 800rpm, but it seems fine for me. As long as it doesn't stay at a high rpm at idle, I don't see any problems.

  1. Initialize your destination drive to APFS.
  2. Use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! to clone your main system drive.
  3. When finished, mount the EFI partitions of both your source drive and destination drive.
  4. Drag and drop the entire EFI folder from your source drive to the destination drive.
  5. Done.

Thank you, i will try today and will check results.

Yes yes its done! With mojave 1.14.5 beta Radeon RX Vega 56 Air Boost acts almost like in windows. temps in benchmark always below 75 degrees and never get 85 like it was before with different settings. and its fan noise stays always on norm level and never gets higher then 3k rpm. in benchmarks it 2500-2700rpm max. fan grows from 600rpm to 2700rpm under load like it should be with growing temps. After benchmarks it quick goes down to 600-800rpm. performance is on 6.5% worst then before but who cares if temp is always low and fan quick stop spinning! Thank you guys for support!

Today i installed new cooling system on my vega 56 - morpheus 2 core. I accomplish 100-200 rpm with 120mm fans in system idle with 38 degrees! Its super super quiet! In benchmark unigine heaven after 10 minutes it was 55 degrees with 400rpm. After 30 min 68 degrees with 500-600rpm. I am so happy with super silent hackintosh now)

First of all, I want to say thank you for this beautiful binary generator
Can't be a more happy Vega user, thank you!

This app has been working flawlessly for me until lately I applied Morpheus Vega for my 64
Now since my temp goes down really low(Never above 60 even @1.68Ghz)
I started to get into some serious OC
Then I found that this app of maybe the macOS driver doesn't support HBM2 running anything above 1.1GHz
I've tried different memory clock speeds and left anything else the same
If the memory is set to anything below(and included)1.1GHz, it will run exactly like the number I set
However, if I set it above 1.1Ghz, the memory will be locked at 500MHz all the time, even the temp is like 2X degree

Can anyone confirm this as well?
Thanks~!

You might need to rise SoC clock. To do so use my excel sheet instead of VGTab. Also make sure to adjust minimum PWM limit so the actual fan speed matches what the driver does set. Reference Vega 64 PWM value is 10.

Attached PPT generator has your values pre-set. Just change what you need. Don't bother lowering voltages, they are fixed to stock voltage on macOS. Power limit is set to 350W.

Yo dude, where did you come up with this excel lol
I can't express how much thanksful I am

Now my Vega 64 can unleash it's full power on macOS just like on Windows
Thank you sir!

I created it since VGTab isn't optimal due to missing PWM parameter.
