An iDiot's Guide To Lilu and its Plug-ins

One more question, I can’t get the battery indicator to work, I’ve tried every YouTube tutorial but none had work for me. The best I could get is 0%... I’m lost...

@yaminebens,

For working battery you need to patch the DSDT correctly ...

@RehabMan has a very good guide on the subject and all the patches you need are in his git-hub repo.

Cheers

@jaymonkey, thanks so much for the guide! I didn't know about Lilu and its extensions, but I followed your guide recently to switch from Sierra to High Sierra. Took me awhile ('cuz I'm slow) but it's a great feeling to know that future OS updates will be so much less painful now. Thanks again for all your time and care in crafting these instructions.

Hi everyone, help me please...
I've followed vanilla installation guide and successfully make my HP Prodesk 400 G4 to boot up and have Audio & HD 630 working. My problem is I have 2 monitors connected to a VGA port and a DisplayPort, only DP one show the screen. Hackintool can see the second monitor connected to VGA port, but Mac didn't show anything in Displays settings.

I've attached my IOReg dump. Please help me!!

I'm still trying to nail down DRM issues so if you found a section that works for you please post your stories below, so we can help others and improve the above info.
Hi, just come to rent a movie on iTunes and can give you a first feedback for streaming with my desktop and my laptop :
- desktop (RX580/headless IGPU) : adding shikigva=1 make streaming working
- laptop : streaming not working (black screen) with any shikigva boot arg and with the command to "Force MacOS to use Intel IGPU" (is dgpu mandatory for streaming ?)

Thanks for your helpful guide !

@favoriti,

I am no expert on DRM but as far as i know Apple made some significant changes to it recently, the net result is that DRM playback works fine on Hackingtosh systems equipped with a dGPU but its a real problem on systems with just a IGPU, this info came directly form the developers of WhatEverGreen/Shiki on the Official WEG support thread, I know that they are working on it but unless things have changed in the last few weeks its currently not possible to get DRM playback working on solo IGPU systems.

MacOS obviously can do it as Apple have Laptops (MB + MBA) that only have a IGPU but since the recent changes Shiki is unable to help ... recommend you take a look at the official WEG support thread and maybe post there to see if there is any new progress.

Cheers

@chickyd3v,

Your ioreg dump has not been created with the correct version of IORegisteryExplorer please use V2.1 as detailed in this guide :-

Please supply Proper Problem Reporting Files (PPRF) by using the tool in this guide :-

VGA is no longer officially supported in MacOS, the only reliable way to drive a VGA monitor is to use an Active HDMI/DP to VGA adapter. I assume your system has a native 15 Pin D-Type VGA connector so your probably out of luck unless you use an framebuffer from an old version of MacOS but we don't recommend that method as a solution here at TMx86.

Cheers

Sorry, Please do me a favor, can you show me the way of "use an framebuffer from an old version of MacOS"?

@chickyd3v,

It maybe possible to patch the existing frame buffer to work with VGA but its something I've never done so I cant really advise you on what to do ... you could try posting on this thread :-

Explains that you know that MacOS no longer officially supports VGA but can any one help with patching your framebuffer to work with VGA using a non-standard method ...its possible that some one has figured out a way.

If you have no luck with that then the only other method would be to use the framebuffer kexts from an old version of MacOS, again its not something I've ever done but I believe that you would have to install an old version of MacOS that still supported VGA ... (I think OSX Mavericks might have still had support for VGA) once installed and working you would then have to copy the required framebuffer kexts and install them on your target version of MacOS. You would probably have to patch the MacOS version of those kexts too ... like i said before its not a method we recommend as every time you update MacOS they would be deleted so you would have to reinstall them.

My advice would be to install a cheap dGPU if possible and drive your VGA monitor from that using an active adapter.

@ndhhien27,

As detailed in the AppleALC section of the guide .... did you check your ioreg for the HDEF device, if it is not there then check you native DSDT and find out the default ACPI name of the HDA device, then try applying the appropriate Clover ACPI rename fix.

All is explained in the ACPI HDA/Codec Rename Issues section which is towards the bottom of the AppleALC chapter.

If you require assistance please supply Proper Problem Reporting Files (PPRF's) using the tool detailed in this guide :-

Be sure to follow the instructions carefully ...

Cheers
Jay
