[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I can't get iMessage and FaceTime working .... I log into iCloud on Mac, and then I activate iMessage with Apple ID and password but that window doesn't close.... its also not telling me that's password is wrong ... I can't get further .... if I type in wrong password there then I get a message that it is wrong...
Hello @fluxgold,

You should be able to log into FaceTime and Messages (note that on macOS it is called Messages instead of iMessage) as follows:
  • Mount EFI Partition of Mojave SSD, open the EFI/CLOVER/drivers64Uefi folder and check whether EmuVariableUefi-64.efi is installed. If you don't see it, you may copy it from Post-Install Files.zip.
  • Sign out of iCloud.
  • Reboot.
  • Sign in to iCloud.
  • Now run either Messages or FaceTime and try to log in.

So another update. GTX 780 with the headless platform ID worked pretty well as a temp bandaid but playback and renders of the timeline were pretty unusable in premiere. I mean I could get decent 1/8 playback of 4K Amira and RED footage but not really usable. Rendering the timeline produced green glitches and unwatchable previews.

Just installed beta 4 and popped in a Radeon VII all booted fine. Will update on performance soon
As an aside, the new 27-inch 5K iMacs use the i9-9900F processor. There is no iGPU in this processor. This is probably why About this Mac still doesn't recognize the standard i9-9900K...even in 10.14.5 Beta 4.

Hello,

Would the BCM94352z work with this build and with everything like continuity and airdrop working?

I searched this thread but nothing showed up.

My bet is yes.

(The reason why I ask, is that I have one that is laying around I could use without buying new stuff.)

Thanks.

The BCM94352 should work when used with a PCIe x1 adapter card, but it will require Airport BRCM Fixup and Patch RAM kexts. Cards such as the Dell DW1560 may not work at all in the Socket-1 M.2 slot on the motherboard, hence PCIe adapter is preferred.

thanks. My problem is finding a pci-e card that can ship soon enough (2-3 weeks from China).

Can I start the install and later on install the module? Or it’s not advised.
You can certainly install and configure macOS without a WiFi/BT card as long as wired Ethernet is available. If you use a BCM94360-series card, you may install that into the system at any time in the future and it will work out-of-box -- true plug-and-play. Handoff, Unlock with Apple Watch, and AirDrop can all be toggled on later -- they are just checkboxes in System Preferences and in Finder.

@shubckin,

There is no indication of a systemic problem with firmware F6 on the Designare Z390. We have to be careful before rushing to judgment from a single data point. Your post does not provide any direct evidence to support the assertion. The boot failures you encountered could likely have been cleared by performing a full power shutdown (i.e. removing power cable for a few seconds), resetting CMOS (shorting two CMOS pins together on motherboard), or re-flashing the same F6 BIOS. Modern motherboard are complex devices with complex firmware that maintains numerous parameters in CMOS. CMOS can become corrupted with frequent hard boots and hard shutdowns. CMOS can also become corrupted when installing or removing NVMe and PCIe devices, especially if power is not fully disconnected.

The phrase direct evidence is important. If you upgrade to F6 now and re-configure BIOS parameters, it is likely that your system will function properly. But if you can demonstrate that switching to F6 fails to boot, but switching to F4 or F5 works and you can repeat this 3 out of 3 times -- with no other changes made -- then that would constitute direct evidence.
Ok, I will try F6 BIOS again later with resetting CMS and full power shutdown, thank you!

Ok, just tried again F6 BIOS and it works! I don't know why. Thank you I was wrong.
Now you can add one more item to your signature... :)

Thank you for your quick answer.

I started my build, and weird thing is happening with F5 BIOS. Every time I disable CSM support, the computer never boots again... I have to reset the BIOS. I've tried many times by isolating each BIOS setting, and it is the CSM support that does it. Wonder what happens if I leave it at Enabled.
