[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

FakeSMC.kext missing from /L/E

also no GFX0 to IGPU rename in config.plist

Thank you for your assistance. I have added fakesmc.kext. However, I cannot find where GFX0 has not been renamed. Would you be able to provide a screenshot of the code you are referring to?

@RehabMan
Will this method work on lenovo u410 to get brightness slider working? I have tried it but has not been successful. I remember that lenovo u410/310 has a problem since sierra or high sierra but cant remember exactly. Is there any other work around to get the brightness working? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I got a problem with this guide.
I manage to get the slider on the settings but the brightness don't change and if I put the value of the slider under ~20% my screen goes black and nothing I can't do nothing anymore, i must reboot.

I'm on Mojave.
Thanks in advance.

Hello. My problem is low range brightness (or fog effect like) in High Sierra 10.13.6 or Sierra 10.12.6. All seems work normal, slider changes brightness level from system prefs, fn keys work too, but display isn't bright like in El Capitan with IntelBacklight.kext.
In El Capitan with IntelBacklight.kext this fog effect was too, I found that in IntelBacklight.kext I have to change PCHL value to 0 instead of -1 to get full brightness range. But in new way PCHL not used
I tried with AppleBacklightFixup and WhateverGreen, same result
Hope we find answer together.
Thanks

yes, thats true, the latest version of Whatevergreen has it, although your problem reporting files mention clover is not installed.....

One obvious problem I can see is your current config.plist has the wrong SMBIOS. You should probably be using MacBookPro14,3 and definitely not iMac18,1 so change that and see what happens. Also you don't actually need AppleBacklightFixup.kext and can remove it since WhateverGreen.kext does the same thing.

I use Clover from usb to test. I attached my clover in first post(EFI.zip)
