<< Solved >> RX 560 very high fan speed after wake from sleep on 10.14.4 (solved by 10.14.5 beta 2)

Unfortunately for me, replacing the kexts with the ones from 10.14.5 beta 2 gives some purple lines on the boot screen. However, it solves the fan bug...

Will try a clone of 10.14.4 updated to the latest beta...

Clone of 10.14.4 updated to 10.14.5 beta 2: purple lines before white flash...! I'll have to try with my RX580 next.

Here's what I got on my Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ 8GB

I'm having one weird oddity where every so often, maybe 5 min or so, the fan ramps up and then down real quick - 2nd screen shot. Seems like the fan is just oversensitive and overreacting to a need for some GPU utilization while doing web stuff here.

Well, it's a new optical flaw with these drivers (10.14.5 beta 2). Happening with MSI RX560 and RX580.

I confirm the same issue.
I took the kext from the mediafire link and installed that on my 10.14.4.
After reboot, I had graphical glitches and, out of my 3 monitors, 2 on display ports and 1 on DVI, there was no display on the DVI one and I was stuck in mirror mode on the display port monitors with no ability to go to extend.

My RX580 is an 8GB model from PowerColor.

Fan speed is perfect until after sleep.

It was working without any issue on 10.14.3.

No issue for me on both 10.14.4 and 10.14.5 beta 2.

Yes.

If your hard exhibits that behaviour then it's definitely not ok, that doesn't happen on Windows because the card idles at 300mhz and runs much cooler, so it never reaches 55ºC and the fans never spin up...

I'm seriously thinking replacing this card with a Vega 56/64 that I can tweak from macos.

@borisnet and all users with graphical glitches at bootscreen:
Report from beta 3: still purple lines at boot, not sure anything has changed since beta 2? Anyway, fan behavior stays the same meaning it's ok after sleep.

Mine 400 to 500 MHz at idle, most of time 50ºC to 52ºC, rarely up to 55ºC.

Edit:Install RX570 to another Asrock mobo get different result, lower GPU power consumption from 23 to 35 W, clock speed 300 to 450 MHz, temperature are lower, mostly at 45~47ºC.

This is very interesting @shuhung!! do you have any idea what could be different in one motherboard vs another? I assume your EFI folder is different for each. Any difference there that could affect this?

I will review your EFI folder you posted earlier and I will report back my findings.

Thank you for this.
Do you have a single monitor or multiple? How is it (are they) connected? DP? HDMI? DVI?
