As casey said, audio is conveyed to the monitor via HDMI. Audio controls for HDMI audio are always on the display/TV device. Unfortunately, most monitors rely on the monitor setup menu to show the volume level control. For a couple more dollars they could easily put vol up, down, and mute as discrete buttons somewhere on the monitor, but whatever...

Thank you for your answer. How sad we can't control it within the computer and have to go through the monitor menu! Well i hope one day there's a solution for this?

I'm pathetic, I need you to hold my hand... this is my current status (have not signed into iCloud) and I "think" I am ready to start "post install". Doesn't look like there are any "macOS" files on SSD (Intel SSD6 1 terabyte) yet.

That's more like it! A better way to determine disk usage is by right-clicking the disk icon in Finder and selecting "Get Info". It should be more than 6 GB. If the drive icons are not visible on the desktop, simply go to Finder --> Preferences and check-on the relevant box.

You are ready for post-installation.

Iv'e followed this exactly (same setup with 9900k + vega64) and the installer hangs on loading and won't pass the initial apple logo. Using another method I manage to get to step 12/14 after booting twice. However, it hangs again rather than the graceful restart as expected. I feel like I am so close but can't figure it out after reading / trying every method - any help - or if anyone has had this and got past it - would be much appreciated!

Some comments:

• Have you enabled Verbose by adding "-v" to your Boot Arguments? This will show detailed log messages during startup and shutdown.
• Do you a Windows drive in the system?

Let's start with this and take additional action based on outcome.

i can boot in mojave using usb stick "boot filevault prebooter from preboot"

and there i did that:

Clover Configurator —> Graphics —> Inject ATI —> checked it to on
Clover Configurator —> Graphics —> Framebuffer —> used Orinoco
Clover Configurator —> Graphics —> Radeon DeInit —> checked it to on

saved config.plist on SSD

reboot... but it still can not boot into Mojave from SSD

Please try the attached config.plist. You'll need to boot from USB install disk, then proceed as follows:

• Mount EFI partition of Mojave SSD and copy attached config.plist into CLOVER folder.
• Connect your display monitor to RX580 GPU, remove USB disk, and reboot directly from Mojave SSD. Does it work
• If it fails, connect display monitor to HDMI port on motherboard and reboot directly from Mojave SSD. Does it work?

This version of config.plist has these changes:

• Inject Intel unchecked.
• Inject ATI check on.
• WhateverGreen enabled from Devices --> Properties with platform ID 0x3E9B0007. On-board video ports are enabled.
• "Trust" flag checked on in SMBIOS.

Please ensure that all third-party kexts have also been copied into /Library/Extensions, and Kext Utility has been run to rebuild kernel caches.

Looked good, but Multicast failed to mount. It gave me the "The installation failed" message just after "FakeSMC" -- about 60 seconds in.

Is there a chance it could be "system definitions" (I tried both mac mini 8,1 and iMac 14,2).

Only other thing that I thought might be the culprit is the low-level formatting of the SSD in Windows prior to running the install - but I formatted it with Disk Utility during the early MacOs steps. Any clues?

Congratulations -- no pain no gain!!

I think it will be especially helpful to outline the various issues you encountered and how you dealt with them -- a post-mortem of the past 20 hours -- although the patient is very much alive!

When Clover initializes itself during boot, it scans all connected hard drives:

• NVMe
• Internal SATA
• External drives (eSATA, USB, Thunderbolt, etc.)

If any of these drives contains a valid EFI partition, it will appear as a boot option in the Clover Boot Menu. During macOS installation we have the following drives and partitions:

• USB install disk --> Clover will show "Boot macOS Install from Install MacOS Mojave"
• Mojave SSD --> Clover will show "Boot macOS Install from Mojave"

When installation is completed (including post-installation), we should remove the USB flash disk and reboot. In this case we should see:

• Mojave SSD --> "Boot macOS from Mojave" (the word "install" is gone)
• You will also see Mojave Recovery, PreBoot, and possibly FileVault boot options.

In your case:

• Power down the machine and unplug from the wall for 10 seconds to clear CMOS.
• Remove the USB install disk.
• Temporarily remove all other USB and Thunderbolt disks.
• Boot the machine and press F12 at the BIOS splash screen. The BIOS will display a list of bootable devices. Capture and upload a photo.
• Select your Mojave SSD from this BIOS boot menu.
• At the Clover Boot Menu, capture/upload a photo showing all of the available (bootable) disks.
• Ensure that you have BIOS version F4 or later, preferably F6.

I followed your instructions, and confirmed the that the BIOS is F5. Please see screenshots attached. The main options available from Clover for me were

-Boot FireVault Prebooter from Preboot
-Boot macOS Install Prebooter from Preboot
-Boot macOS Install from Mojave (Default choice if I don't take any action)
-Boot macOS from Mojave (my choice to boot system)
-Recovery

I usually have some external hard drives connected, but never the USB install disk. I did follow your instructions for having all external devices disconnected, and also doing the CMOS clearing.

Please let me know what you think!

As a side note, I just installed the WTXUP Broadcom BCM94360CD 802.11ac 1750Mbps Desktop PCi-E WiFi Adapter, and the WiFi/Bluetooth & Airdrop are all working properly without any adjustment from my side! Seems like a good choice if anyone is in the market for one of these things.

I am using Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 8GB, and so far no black screen issue with it
