Mojave Installation Freezes at 15 Minutes Remaining

Hey folks,

This is my first ever attempt at installing macOS on a PC. I've been following the Install macOS Mojave on Any Supported Intel-based PC guide and it worked flawlessly until about mid-way through Step 4.

I was able to boot into macOS off of the USB flash drive, formatted the SSD, and began to install macOS Mojave onto the SSD. The system rebooted, and then at the boot screen, I chose Mojave.

It looks good at first, and the progress bar begins to move a bit, but then it gets stuck right at the beginning with 15 minutes remaining. I let it sit overnight, but nothing had changed. I tried starting the whole process over, but it still gets stuck right at the same spot.

Any ideas?

I have the same issue. The screen is stuck at 15 minutes. After two minutes or so the machine will then automatically reboot, I will select the „Mojave” harddrive from the clover boot menu and the sequence starts all over.

I have with same problem. I installed 2/3 of the Mojave then the screen freeze. Still have no idea yet...

Same here, except mine says 13 minutes and it crashes and reboots rather than freezing. I posted the details of my configuration in this thread.

Okay, I've found a way to at least circumvent the stuck-at-15/13-minutes-with-consequantial-reboot-thing.

First off, I personally needed to add the USBInjectAll.kext and the XHCI-unsupported.kext to the /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other directory on the EFI partition of the installer before I could even get to the installation. That said, the installation went through once I had downloaded the Clover EFI bootloader here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/files/latest/download

…and then installed it onto the installer I had previously prepared with UniBeast. Important during the installation is to check the OSxAptioFix3Drv-64.efi which apparently will replace the problematic AptioMemoryFix.efi (you need to make sure that one is unchecked).

When installing macOS Mojave again with this altered installer, another crucial thing seems to be to not format your hard drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as per the installation guide, but to instead format it to APFS.

For me the installation then went through. However, when rebooting now the installed system will load all the way to the end but for some reason won't get beyond the loading screen, even though the loading has completed.

Same issue for me.
MacOS 10.14.4 + Unibeast 9.1 or 9.2. No other changes to USB

Boot from vanilla Unibeast will get to installer
Can format disk with: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or APFS (issue occurs with both)
Installer starts and then after first reboot it goes shows the issue here.
Can keep selecting boot but will just endlessly reboot.

Tried OSxAptioFix3Drv-63.efi but can't boot the USB with that, Apple Logo and then the circle with the line logo.

Okay, I got some news - I managed to get my installation done (it used to be stuck at 15, then at 13 minutes before) and it's booting now, too. I will just send in a few screenshots of what has worked for me (don't know if it will for you).

These are the drivers and kexts I was using:

In order to modify them I used the Clover Configurator:

These were the drivers I activated:

When installing, my USB stick was connected via USB 2.0 (obviously), but one thing I also activated before installing was the USB Ownership and the USB Injection under Options > PCI devices in the bootlader:

As mentioned above, before installing the OS I actually formatted the hard drive to APFS, not Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

The installation took about five minutes, then the system rebooted. Now, normally you would boot into the partition that reads Boot macOS Install from Mojave, but that's exactly where the installation would get stuck at 13 minutes for me. Therefore I instead continued the second part of the installation using the partition Boot macOS Install Prebooter from Preboot:

And this really did the trick for me. The installation continued at the infamous 13 minutes, but then continued all the way through. And now I can also boot into the installed OS after the installation, without the boot getting stuck at 100%.

Yup, the driver OsxAptioFix3Drv-64.efi was the missing link.
I tracked down my issue with that driver failing to inject to a missing setting (possibly specific to my MB) in clover:
RtVariables -> CsrActiveConfig: 0x67

Have had it lazy the past 7 years and never really had to mod my Unibeast installer before with my previous hardware.
Not really much of a choice with Mojave.

Documenting as I go so may end up posting a guide.
