macOS Native Discrete GPU Power Management

Hi there!

I'm trying to implement this procedure over my new rig (i7-8700K CPU, Gigabyte Z370 AORUS ULTRA GAMING 2.0, dual Sapphire Pulse RX580 + Intel IGPU headless over High Sierra 10.13.6 17G6030).

I've modded the kext and it seems like it is correctly applied over one of the cards (GFX0) but not over the other (GFX1). I've read the OT and I know it is stated that it doesn't apply for multiple cards, but I wanted to know if this is possible.

Attached are my diagnostic files. Thanks for such a great guide!

I would like to thank Toleda and mattystonnie for your efforts to help me. I think I may have gotten it working now. I moved dAGPM.kext to trash from S/L/E and Clover Configurator , then restarted , and downloaded dAGPM.kext again and this time I only copied my board ID and pasted it to Mac-AMD and it seems everything looks ok :)

@toleda
  1. As others reported, dAGPM.kext causes small visual freezes (1/2 sec). tested it: for example it happens when Quitting apps from Dock (eg. App Store). Attached also a 6 sec video showing the problem (you can see the black pointer not moving shortly after "Quit" is pressed). It doesn't happen if dAGPM.kext is removed from kexts/Other.

  3. This guide (I; II - 1.3.1; 3.10; 4; 5 - success)

Claim: native power management for unsupported macOS discrete graphics cards causes small visual freezes
Key point: unsupported macOS discrete graphics cards
Your choices:
a. small visual freezes (I have never experienced the problem and until your post, not aware others have the problem)
b. disable native GPU power management (remove dAGPM.kext)
c. switch to AMD graphics (poor macOS/Nvidia/Pascal driver support)
