has anyone had a breakthrough with the graphics acceleration for amd rx580 card, i've been at it for 3 days now and cant get the card to work at the normal 1300 frequency. anything i tried and it still runs at 300mhz, im trying to capture some footage with OBS and get low fps, might be related to gpu frequency.

Is it showing 300mhz in Geekbench and Luxmark? Test them in windows and see if it’s correct. Those two benchmarks have incorrect frequency readings. 300x4 = 1200mhz.

Sup guys! I have a HIS R9 280X iPower IceQ X² Turbo Boost Clock 3GB GDDR5 PCI-E DLDVI-I/HDMI/2xMini DP and after Mojave installation + whatgreen its working great BUT the system shows it as a Radeon HD7970.

Is there anyway that I can fix it?
Is it cosmetic or its really changes the performance?

It is basically the same card. Which version of MacOS are you using?

There is a way to fix the name you will need kext wizard and iHex. But you will have to fix it after updates that replace the 7000controllerkext.

the card in question is Gigabyte AORUS RX580 8GB, on macOS Mojave 10.14.4 i get 300mhz in luxmark and while trying to encode with OBS and get horrible fps. i installed high sierra 10.13.6 and without any configuration to the gpu it worked straight OOB. in Mojave while having the iGPU enabled i cant open FCPX nor can i encode with obs, they both crash on startup. luxmark shows the correct frequency in High Sierra 1365MHz with iGPU disabled RadeonDeInit of and InjectATI off, also no framebuffer selected, all 4 monitors are working. On mojave only 3 out of 4 monitors work without radeondeinit, also on mojave i seem to have some problems with some usb ports, the 3.0 ones work and only 2 out of 4 usb2.0 work.

The luxmark thing is a bug/change in some macOS API. It's not a reliable way to determine clock speed in Mojave. My vega 56 shows 800Mhz but is actually running at in the high 1500Mhz range. It's been a long time since I ran a Polaris card, so someone else may need to chime in on how to get reliable clock/temp/fan metering. (Does RadeonSensors FakeSMC plugin work?)

The OBS thing is probably some other issue. I suspect your card is actually running higher than 300Mhz but there are other things you need to sort out stability wise.

I'm using mojave 10.14.4. Fresh install.
I started the user experience tests today.

At this moment I belive i have only 2 issues.
The gpu wrong name and the usb.
When i try to put my pc to sleep the water cooler (h100i) wont turn off and i belive its a usb problem.
The file transference are ok, but i belive the usb are awakening my pc.

Can you help me fix the gpu issue?

For the Shutdown have you tried clover configurator app fix shutdown option in ACPI section? see pic.



For the graphics card you could first try clover boot screen menu use cursor arrows to go to Options tab. Then go to Graphics settings. Check if the card is listed as R9 280X. if it is try inject ATi. If it works you can set it permanently with Clover Config. app. Framebuffer = Futomaki, or Hamachi. If it doesn't work or you get black screen then on to plan b.




To use Clover Configurator app open it and select Mount EFI then Open Partition, make edits and close. Reboot and test.

Edit: deleted after no response. Am taking a different approach and will report back with any success at resolving the graphics glitches i was experiencing.

Unfortunately the fix shutdown didnt work. I really believe its a usb problem. My water cooler has a usb connection and its affecting my wacom after sleeps too.

In "Clover > Options > Graphics Injector" none of the checkboxes are checked, my Card DeviceID is 6978 and the system says my card is the AMD Radeon 7970x/8970/R9 280_

I dont really know what to do. Im lost. lol

When I try to run Final Cut 10.4.6 it doesn't start because the following error: "Hardware blending not supported"

In can't run FCX if I enable both iGPU (HD630) and dGPU (Radeon RX580)

Someone can help me please?
