Is there any particular reason you are using SMBIOS MacMini8,1? I'm using iMac18,1 with no problems.

Using /Library/Extensions/ as location for your kext should be an option, not a necessity, but in some cases there is no choice.. Some kext won't load unless placed in that location. Take for instance you'd want to add a WF+BT card for wireless usage.

All available cards that support NGFF atm need kext from @RehabMan repository to work properly -besides the correct USB implementation through SSDT or kext creation due to Bluetooth using a internal USB-, credits to @RehabMan for his extended insight on building the SSDT and to @headkaze for his easy to use hackintool.

So, I would suggest moving kext there. You would only need Ethernet kext in case you'd want to reinstall system from apple server in recovery, which is weird nowadays..

It would certainly help new comers with a full guide, true!

Did you achieve dual monitor boot with Intel UHD 630? I managed to make them work if plugged after wards, but not on boot :(

In answer to your questions, I am having NO issues with MacMini8,1. I wanted to try it as it matched my 8700 i7. Now I have software tied to this model so I'll keep it.
I did try to use TWO monitors with the igfx, but no go. Display port takes precedence over HDMI, and the HDMI port shuts off. So it is acting as a ether or, not both. Is the built in GPU even capable of more than one? I don't know, and Im not needing more than one.

As stated earlier, a full guide for this board and any 9th gen cpu vanilla install would be great. @Stork suggested newbies use unibeast + multibeast. I have read through this thread many times and it seems some guys like @NZRichard have a good working system (but didn't use Unibeast - just clover by itself). @M.Arai original post says not to install vanilla mojave 10.14.1 but should upgrade from high sierra. However, per later posts we can do vanilla install with 10.14.2+. He also talks about the jpeg problem, but my understanding is that problem should be fixed using a proper iGPU headless setup. So the original post is outdated now.

If you had to do a vanilla install from scratch today - what would you do differently?

Cheers

Finally I'm going to buy another motherboard.

Hi Everyone,

I will put a new system together with this Motherboard, but I see that there are 2 versions - one with WiFi and the other without. If I get the WiFi, will I be able to use the onboard BT and WiFi ? Or should I go with the one without ?

If BT and WiFi onboard is not working, is this the card that I need to buy ?

Also, I would like to use the following. Do you think these components will work seamlessly with this motherboard ?
  • Processor: Intel i9-9900K Processor
  • Ram: HyperX Predator HX436C17PB3K4/64 3600MHz CL17 DIMM 64GB (4 x 16) DDR4 Model No: HX436C17PB3K4/64
  • GPU: AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition Liquid Retail
  • Power Supply: EVGA Supernova 750 G3, 80 Plus Gold 750W, Fully Modular, Eco Mode with New HDB Fan
  • Disk: Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series - 1TB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V7S1T0B/AM)

For cooling this CPU with cooler, which one should I get ? Will it be liquid cooled or air cooled ?

Also, is my choice of PSU suitable for this configuration, or should I go 600-650 Watts ? if so which model.

I will be very grateful if you could help me out with these points, as I am not sure if everything will work with this motherboard.

Thanks

Looks fine to me, but its all personal preferences.

As far as which MB (with or without WiFi). The MB built in WiFi/Bluetooth module doesn't work with macOS. I bought the MB with WiFi because it was cheaper and widely available at the time, then disabled it in BIOS and installed a compatible PCIe WiFi card. Some have replaced the ASUS MB module with a macOS compatible one.

Thank you very much for the info but does this motherboard work without any problems ? What do you mean by “ Some have replaced the ASUS MB module with a macOS compatible one” ?

It means that no motherboards except Apple's MacS are 100% compatible because parts of the hardware have no software drivers to work with macOS. The ASUS Intel Wi-Fi/Bluetooth has no macOS drivers. Most likely never will.

Hi guys, has any of you updated to latest BIOS 2401?? I had to reinstall and it just doesn't work now with new BIOS, I can't even roll back in BIOS with USB what the hell..¿?¿?

Got Mojave on this MB from scratch. Including HD 630 full hardware acceleration: Quick Sync, HEVC, JPEG quick preview - all ok:

BIOS:
Ai Tweaker:
  • Ai Overclock Tuner: XMP I (just for speed)
  • ASUS MultiCore Enhancement: Auto
Advanced:
  • Platform Misc Configuration (lower temperature of Radeon):
    • PCI Express Native Power Management: Enabled
    • Native ASPM: Enabled
    • PCH DMI ASPM: Auto

    • Serial Port Configuration
      • Serial Port: Off
  • USB Configuration
    • Legacy USB Support: Enabled
    • XHCI Hand-off: Enabled
  • Network Stack Configuration
    • Network Stack: Disabled
Boot:
  • Boot Configuration
    • Fast Boot: Disabled
  • CSM (Compatibility Support Module)
    • Launch CSM: Disabled
  • Secure Boot
    • OS Type: Windows 10 WHQL
    • Key Management: do Clear Secure Boot Keys
UEFI drivers: ApfsDriverLoader-64, AptioMemoryFix-64, EmuVariableUefi-64, VBoxHFS-64.efi
Kexts: Lilu, VirtualSMC, WhateverGreen, AppleALC, USBInjectAll, IntelMausiEthernet

The very important part:
Created NEW EMPTY config using Clover Configurator. No Unibeast, no Multibeast – they kill GPU+iGPU.
To get working iGPU hardware acceleration – it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT not to use any injects, patches, fixes, device-ids, flags etc. Choose iMac18,3 in the SMBIOS and WhateverGreen will take care of all the rest necessary things. My config.plist in the attachment
Sorry. I have a problem tell me no VRAM variable.
