[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

I picked up the 500W. What a bargain. You will have to pay up front and submit a rebate with the usual 4-6 week wait time, but still, if you are working a budget, it's worth it. Thanks @trs96 for keeping us updated on these nice upgrades to our pre-builts.
Do you have a Dell MT ? Using it for a different system ? Let us know how it works out.

Hey Guys, I successfully followed this guide (twice) and was able to install Mojave on my Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF i7-3770. The system is running very good and seems to be stable. I also was able to get the NVMe to work with an adapter card. OS is installed on the NVMe drive. The system cannot natively boot NVMe so I have Clover installed on a secondary drive. When system boots Clover recognizes the macOS disk and boots the system. Overall, it's working very very good.

In order for Clover to recognize NVMe, I had to add the NVMe efi driver to Drivers64UEFI folder.
Additionally, my system was causing reboots during computer sleep. I resolved that by deleting com.apple.Power* files within /Library/Preferences - following post#6 on the thread here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/solved-sleep-shutdown.260947/

I'm very excited about my 7010 build. Next week I will receive the Wifi/BT card and cannot wait for that to be installed

Thanks trs96 and Grizz for your helpful advice and tips. Got everything working again all drives are showing up and working fine. Got Mojave back on the SSD, still working on the NVMe. Think I’ll leave the fusion drive until I’ve read up some more. One thing I discovered, the same NVMe card and adapter works in the PCIe X16 slot in the HP6300pro.

May I know the issue you are facing with the NVMe? I can help as I was able to get the NVMe working on my system

Craig has created an NVME fusion drive so it is a different approach than what you have done.
Would you post links to the components you used and also attach the EFI driver that works for you ?
Also, which PCIe slot are you using, which adapter and what kinds of speeds do you get from the NVMe drive ?

I added the following components to the 7010 SFF:
  1. SilverStone Dual M2 to PCI-E X4 and SATA 6G Adapter Card - This has two M.2 slots - one for NVMe drive and other for SATA drive. I've NVMe with the Sabrent drive below and SATA with a WD drive. The adapter comes with both low profile and normal bracket. I used the first PCIe slot in my 7010 SFF
  2. Sabrent 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD - this is where I installed Mojave
  3. WD Blue 500GB SATA M.2 2280 SSD - this is where I installed Clover. I am using this drive for data/storage
Below is my AmorphousDiskMark for the NVMe drive. The drive appears to be hitting close to it's advertised speeds.

The EFI I had to use to enable NVMe at the boot time for Clover is attached.

Those are very impressive read speeds for that Sabrent drive. No wait for anything from boot ups to opening a program.
Does that Silverstone adapter require power from a Sata power connector ? I'd also be interested to know if one could install just the NVMe drive in the x4 slot and still get the same speeds from that drive.

Is that the 2nd PCI slot? I can try that one and see the results. The adapter does not require Sata power connector

Not the PCI slot (white). The x4 PCIe Slot (looks like the x16 physically) wired x4. Should be the one closest to the edge of the board. Color is black.
