i9 9900k not showing up in "about this Mac". Does it matter?

As the title says, I just finished a build using an i9 9900k as my processor. In my "about this Mac" it shows that my processor is a 3.6 GHz Unknown.

I've seen some users posting completed builds with an i9 where the processor is correctly being shown, others where it is being shown like mine.

Does this matter? If so... how can I get macOS to correctly detect my i9? Thanks.

It should not matter for your use. However, if you are already running Mojave, update to the latest version 10.14.4 and I believe the system should then recognize your CPU correctly. The just released iMac 27" (2019) uses 9th generation CPUs and can be configured to use the i9-9900K, so updating to the latest version of Mojave and the OS should correctly recognize the CPU.

Edit : Apparently I am mistaken. The 2019 iMacs use a special 10.14.4 build, so the "normal" 10.14.4 build does not include support for the 9th generation CPUs. Future Mojave versions should be able to recognize 9th generation CPUs correctly, when used with the correct system definition.

SMBIOS did not release yet. Mine is also Unknown.

I'm currently on 10.14.5 beta 1 and it's still not recognized :(

Too new processor, I've added manually it's name, changed from "Unknown" to my i9.... Let's wait for new updates as original iMac now have it.
