[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

If you are using a USB port limit patch instead of a custom USB SSDT, it is possible that the patch no longer works in 10.14.4. You might want to try replacing that USB port limit patch with the 2 patches described here:
I replace with this 2 patches and still no usb3 on my system. please help me.
i'm adding my EFI folder if you can check it, please.

At least one person in this thread has posted a good review of the Planar IX2790 that has a DisplayPort 1.4 input and can therefore be driven directly from the Vega or RX 580 over a DP 1.4 cable. If you buy two of these monitors, use two DP 1.4 cables -- connected to each of the two DP 1.4 ports on a single Vega or RX 580. Despite the low rating on Amazon, @tdcam posted pretty good feedback here:
Currently about $773 on Amazon.
Oh I see, I think I should have explained myself better. I meant "good looking and quality" monitor. Currently only good quality monitor (panel) is probably the LG Ultrafine 5k but it's also quite ugly (and expensive) if you compare with other Apple products. I guess I will have to wait on the new Apple Pro display.

Thanks anyway!

Yup. Tried in both. No go.
I am attaching my config if you could take a look at it. I just want to make sure I am not screwing up something obvious.
Your configuration looks fine. Only change I would recommend is enabling "AppleIntelCPUPM" in Kernel and Kext Patches. All evidence points to an incompatible card. However, if you have access to a MacPro 3,1 or 4,1 or 5,1 you could try testing it there...

Just got my Hackintosh boot by following this guide. Huge thanks, BRO!

I have a question though. I originally installed my os on a SATA SSD. But my SATA SSD is made of an M2 SSD and an M2toSATA transition case since I didn't have a crew bolt to attach the M2 to my motherboard when I built my Hackintosh.

But now I am thinking about buying a screw bolt to attach my M2 SSD to the M2 port on my motherboard. I am thinking that I just pull the M2 SSD out and then directly insert it into M2 port. But I don't know if it will work. I have 2 questions that I hope someone can help me with:

1. Do I need to reinstall my OS?
2. If I don't need to, should I do anything else after plug my M2 SSD in? Do I need to insert any drives or change bios settings to make the computer boot from M2 SSD?

Huge thanks to anyone who can help!
Short answer: It should work. Just remove your SSD from the external enclosure and insert it into the motherboard's M.2 slot. If boot order is affected, just go into BIOS and set the correct BOOT order.

Long answer: There are two kinds of M.2 SSDs: SATA M.2 and PCIe M.2. The most common external enclosures are for SATA M.2 SSDs. These are much cheaper than external enclosures for PCIe M.2 SSDs. But PCIe M.2 SSDs are significantly faster, often 4 to 6 times faster than SATA M.2 SSDs. But your motherboard's M.2 slot will accept both kinds, so you really don't have to worry about compatibility.

Are you using the Gigabyte Designare Z390 or the Gigabyte GA-Z270X-UD5?
  • In your CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder you have copied the 4 SSDTs for Designare Z390, including the USB SSDT (filename: SSDT-UIAC-DESIGNARE-Z390-V5.aml). This file is only valid for the Designare Z390 motherboard. If you're using the GA-Z270X-UD5, you must delete this file. In fact, you should delete all 4 of the SSDTs in that directory.
  • Attached is a modified config.plist that includes the 3rd USB port limit patch from the link in my previous email. I don't know whether these patches will work with 10.14.4, but it's worth a try.
  • In your CLOVER/kexts/Other folder, please delete these 2 files:
    • Lilu.kext.dSYM
    • WhateverGreen.kext.dSYM

CaseySJ,

Thanks for this tutorial. It took me a few tries and I finally have my hackintosh up and running! Eventually using this for music production.
Glad to hear it, and welcome to the forum!

is it normal to do back up to another computer via LAN to use 100% of the memory of graphic card ?

Also with out doing anything it's also using the memory 100%
That's not normal. I use Acronis for Mac to backup my system to a NAS at regular intervals. There is never any issue like this.

I would suggest the following:
  • Reboot the computer.
  • Login and open iStat.
  • Keep an eye on the RX580 memory bar.
  • Is it normal?
  • Then open ChronoSync and run a backup.
  • What happens to RX580 memory bar?
  • Run another app.
  • What happens to RX580?
Try to see if you can reproduce the RX580 memory leak.

Anybody tried to connect iPhone to the Designare z390? I tried with both internal Thunderbolt and also with Titan Ridge without any success. In the Thunderbolt part of the System info I see only
Thunderbolt: No drivers are loaded.
but for example eGPU works as expected.
I almost forgot! Which eGPU chassis are you using, and which GPU is installed inside?

@jb007 this is the first possible confirmation of eGPU on this system.
