Can't download High Sierra

Yes I did that, thank you. After restarting both machines and re-downloading Hi Sierra Unibeast was able to finish! now on to yet another roadblock.
I Boot to the USB but when I reach the Clover screen the USB I just created does not show as an option, spacebar doesn't help. Thanks for all your help. I think I will sell this machine on ebay and stick to real macs. I'll wait for some used iMac Pros to start showing up. Don't have the time to tinker with all this. Thanks again

Ok, back on topic, new guy here, finally ready to start my build, running into the same roadblock at square one. Downloading HS from the app store I get a truncated installer. I tried shift, and also checked in my purchases (only mojave shows up there, although this 2017 13" MBP is running HS 10.13.1)

I was able to download Mojave no problem, but I am trying to do the pastrychef build more or less, and so I need to use multibeast 8.1 and HS.

Do I have to use the dosdude patcher?

@Macocopeli no, you don't need the patcher. Try and download Sierra first.. You should get the full installer. Make a Unibeast USB with that first, install it on your new hardware and go from there.

Downloading Sierra instead might work as you say, but that puts me at odds with PastryChef's instructions to use unibeast 8.1 only. To start with Sierra would mean I'd have to use unibeast 7.1.1. I had hoped to not be forced to deviate from the guide too much, I don't really care to troubleshoot for myself why exactly PastryChef is so specific about that.

You can create your USB installer using the methods outlined here. Then copy the EFI folder over to the USB flash drive when done.
