For those that have the Sapphire in previous page, I'm receiving mine by next week so can you elaborate on ''OOB''? are you using the WEG from the first post or just the latest WEG 1.2.6? Also any thing checked in graphics section of Clover Configurator, etc.? This will be used on a Z77X build with iMac 13,2 definition running 10.13.6 but I already have a 10.14.3 image ready for restore so that will be the OS version I'll be using for the card. Bless.

Use WEG and Lilu no other fixes. Mojave is best for support.

have bought the sapphire nitro special edition rx 590, runs oob and macOS shows "Radeon RX 590 8192 MB"
super silent fans, no fan in desktop mode and in games is really silent

@Gigamaxx I have tried flashing my XFX fatboy with both powercolor bios and neither seem to succeed. upon reboot my system gets stuck at a black screen with no usb devices working either. Flashing the original rom I backed up worked fine though.

./amdvbflash.exe -f -p 0 romname.rom

^^this is the command I used

Actually doesnt matter. 0 or 1, sapphire bios or different bios switch. all result in pc unable to post while any bios that isnt the original is in use. Upon looking at xfx site i notice that they released a revision of the card which I apparently have. Cant say for sure if that has anything to do with my problem or not though.

I was unhappy at how much heat and fan noise the 590 made. I used the Radeon WattMan software in Windows to undervolt it and that reduced peak temperature considerably when running the Unigine Superposition benchmark.

I don't push the GPU on the Mac side at the moment, but when I do, is there no Mac equivalent of WattMan or AfterBurner to undervolt the GPU? Because I don't think settings are persistent after restarts.

MacOS has “AutoWattMan” you may be able to use bios settings to undervolt or look into “SoftPowerPlayTable” settings.

Your are wrong..
try this:
./amdvbflash.exe -i
your polaris 30 should be 1 not 0!
0 is your polaris 10 and you don't want to flash it
so you have to:
./amdvbflash.exe -f -p 1 romname.rom

it's works. I'm writing from my hackintosh with xfx 590 fatboy.
Kind regards
Paolo

Same here. Very pleased with the card so far, a significant upgrade over my old GTX 950 xtreme. I uninstalled my Nvidia web drivers prior to swapping and then upgraded from High Sierra to Mojave. I'm running dual boot with Windows 10 on another SSD, and the transition has been seamless there as well.

Thanks to Gigamaxx, i bought the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 590 8 GDDR5 Special Edition yesterday - as a replacement for my GTX 1060 which isn't supported in mohave anymore.

The installation was super smooth, nothing to change.
The only little disappointment was, that this card has a slightly lower score in Unigine Vally than my 1060. I thought the 580 should be equal to the 1060 and the 590 is a little faster.
The question is: Was is worth to spent extra money for the 590 or has the 580 the same performance under mohave?

Uninigne really favors Nvidia, I've noticed that the dark or black scenes the AMD cards drop FPS big time, whereas Nvidia cards keep high FPS. This brings down the overall score. The RX 580 will be a little slower than the 590 a 2000 score is very good for a 580. OpenCL apps should be better with AMD like Geekbench or Luxmark. OpenGl apps favor Nvidia and this is a gaming type of graphics mode. Apple doesn't have DirectX12 and they are phasing out openGl support and going with metal so things are changing but AMD is what they are using so if your in Apple environment its well worth it.
