Will my system work? Gigabyte Z390 UD + ASUS Vega 64

Hi,

Just after a quick confirmation before I submit my order. I am building another hackintosh as I am sick and tired of apples pricing.

My specs are -

CPU: I9 9700
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390-UD
GPU: Asus ROG Radeon VEGA 64 STRIX
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz
M.2: Corsair Force Series MP510 NVME

I am not too worried about my motherboard as there is a very similar guide on here. However my GPU is of tad concern. I have read all the forum posts and it looks like it maybe possible but just wanted to confirm.

All the Vega cards will work, but the single fan and/or reference models tend to work better with the VGATab utility to fix fan speed issues. Some of the multi fan models also work with the utility but some are reported not to and may require different and more complicated fixes.

Have you researched the NVME drive? Is it MacOS compatible?

Actually, I just read there may be a problem with the Asus Vega. Bios issue. Prefered brands MSI, Sapphire, XFX, and Powercolor.

Go to YouTube and see Peter Paul Chato site the 3 year Hackintosh report. You could ask him in the comments section. Also, try googling it the model in Hackintosh and see if there are any fixes or workarounds. I would imagine the reference models would work. It’s the aftermarket types that usually have issues like fan speed control and frequency control.

Thank you, been doing a lot of research. It seems some have issue, some don't. If I could go reference I would 100%. Haven't found anything indicating BIOS issues.

What motherboard brand will work 100%, msi, asus or gigabyte? (Z390 chipset)
i7 9700k ?
And what graphics card, looking at the rx 580.. the sapphire, msi or asus?
Ram, crucial balistix 2666 2x 8gb?
Ssd, adat su 650?

History shows that Gigabyte Motherboards are the easiest to get working. I am in the same boat as you, the last thing we want to do is spend this type of cash on a system that doesn't work. Hackintoshing takes extensive research. My research shows that the Gigabyte Z390-UD may not be the best board for the i9 9900K across the board. I have settled on the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro. Offering improved VRM thermal design and so I believe better power delivery should maximise the performance of the i9 9900K. Also there is a more comprehensive vanilla guide on another forum.

In terms of the GPU, for the RX 590 it appears that the Powercolor and the Sapphire Nitro+ are the only working models. The GPU is a concern for me as I can only get Asus and XFX cards. It is possible to flash the VBIOS however I have not done this before.

There is a inherent risk when it comes to hackintoshing, the level of risk you take is determined by the amount of research you do. I may take a risk on the Asus Vega 64 or I may look at flashing a 590 XFX.
