FYI: ASUS removed BIOS Version 1603 sand only offers 1503 for Download since today.
Seems they’ve recognized the problems with 1603 and hopefully release a fixed Variant soon.

Apparently it took them 3 months to release that something went wrong with their last firmware, although I never faced issues even with 1603 on my X299 Deluxe system.

I also noticed that enabling Above 4G Decoding in bios 1603 settings produces the same effect as having npci=0x2000 in .plist -note that Above 4G Decoding is not mandatory to run this hardware anyway-.

I agree with @kgp I did have a X299D that did not require any modifications in .plist to propertly implement USB nor the mentioned Above 4G.. Seems random or something to do with selected chips and what not during manufacturing process, like the issue with ThunderboltEX 3 cards.

Hello,
I've been getting kernel panic lately when my GPU is under load.

I've attached my EFI and the kernel panic info.

Any tips on these help would be much appreciated :eek:D

Oh and a massive thanks to @kgp for the amazing work you've done on this. Really happy with my machine.

hi there, please do update your info so we can see your correct CPU model.

You seem to be using nvidia graphics, which is from where the KP is coming from -CUDA and such- your .plist has no NvidiaWeb checked in System Parameters, which in your case, should be.

You have unnecessary kext in your EFI folder, and two different instances of a "SMC" pluging, which can cause conflict, use the set provided in guide and remove all instances of FakeSMC and lugins, plus VirtualSMC and its plugins.

You should also remove instances of SSDT-RX in your ACPI patched section and unnecessary SSDT in your EFI folder. Check clover version, and verify your CPU has 12 core as set on your TSCAdjustReset.kext .plist

Thanks for the tips dolgarrenan. I'll go over each of these points this evening. The extra SMC items came from some irc comments where I was trying to sort some sensors out. But I'll stip everything back to the original KP recommendation.

When you say update the CPU model, do you mean the superficial fix add in os x?

TSCAdjustReset.kext . <-- I've added 12 as the tutorial described that as 12 threads, not cores?

Thanks

When I say CPU model I meant on your user info, 8700K can't work on X299 platform, thats meant for Z300 boards, and theres only the 7800X cpu with those thread count compatible on X299 platform

@kgp I have a successful build that I built summer of 2018 following your guide on page 1 of this forum topic. Can I upgrade to Mojave successfully with the click of the update button? Or do I need to follow any additional steps? If so, please point me to the right area to upgrade :). Thanks!
