I should have been more specific, you need to use one or the other not both. Just use the PluginType=Yes method and not the SSDT via the script. Simply delete the SSDT from ACPI/patched folder.

Ah, gotcha. SSDT removed, config options set as you mentioned, still booting and still have proper p states. Looks like this issue is solved, and much more seamlessly now. Thanks again!

edit: oops, didn't mean to double post. apologies!

@ideasight - Not sure what could be causing your slow boot but that it takes place so early in the process makes me think it is either that clover is searching for boot entries and awaiting a time out or more likely there are entries in the BIOS boot order which should be changed. If you see 'OSX' as a bios boot option remove it and make sure the boot drive is in SATA0 and listed as the bios's first boot option. Then, using clover configurator turn off searching for any boot menu options that don't apply. These dells seem slow to get thru the bios (mine - 25 secs to clover) how long for yours?

Re Updates: Had 2 or 3 apple updates go thru on this build without any user input except for removing the osx boot entry that the update added in the bios. If this is done after the process completes then you should be back to the state described in this guide but with the newer version of osx.

Plug the cable into the other DP ouput on the back panel of your Dell.

Yes, just set the screen timeout to 0 and you won't see it. You can use Clover Configurator.

trs96,

YOU DA MAN!!! :headbang:

I am now at 99.75% done. THANKS TO YOU.

I moved the DP/HDMI cable to the other port. Rebooted and now the monitor is producing the sound. Thank You. SOUND settings in the SYS PREFS area still give some strange errors/results. Do you think that WhateverGreen would benefit me at all? or should I leave well enough alone?

Still have not run the CHAMELEON CONFIGURE tool....kinds scared to.

I wish there was a better guide as to what all the options do and which are best to use.

I would like to get it booting "without intervention" to the HDD. Right now it boots, and stops at the Chameleon screen. I have to choose the HDD to get it to continue to HS. Which it does without incident.

Am I safe to run the UPDATES now?

I have not tested everything yet, as the new 6 week old puppy takes a lot of time.

I will eventually replace the HDD with a SSD. Would I be able to CLONE HDD >>SSD with something (like GHOST), or should I just reload again (good practice I think - but a lot of work).

trs96 - again a million thanks for all your help. As I learn more and more about this thing - maybe I can start posting ANSWERS here instead of QUESTIONS.

You mean Clover Configurator. We stopped using Chameleon years ago, when Yosemite came out. There's not much you need to do with it, just change the timeout to 0 if you don't want to see the CBM.

Yes, you can clone it. Not with Ghost. Use CCC or Super Duper. I sometimes use Acronis as it copies the EFI partition for you. https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...able-clone-of-your-macos-system-drive.254705/

Yes, I think that updates should work normally, just like on a real Mac. If you followed the guide it won't be a problem.

Sorry... CLOVER CONFIGURATOR. LOL

I know that it wants to upgrade to MOJAVE. I am not sure that I want to do that....but, would it UPGRADE to MOJAVE - or would that be a brand new install (for best practices)?

You can do an in place upgrade, the guide is designed to enable that. If there's really nothing in Mojave you need now just wait a few more point updates before doing the upgrade. Enjoy HS for a while first.
