Before any motherboard suggestion, let's talk first about the elephant in the room ( two actually ). Below is summing formula.
OSX Mojave + ( 2 x GTX 1080 Ti*) = :beachball::banghead::crazy::sick:
Clear enough?

GPUs Vega 64, 56 or against @kgp recommendation, Sapphire RX580 OC ( Oops I wrote a bad word  ) are highly recommended.

I wrote on this thread because it's probably more active, but the plan is to stay in High Sierra.

For sure but if the ASUS X299 Sage WS 10GB was not so expensive for now...It's just a time consideration because time is money (If "French humour" is allowed )

But up to my current knowledge it is the only X299 motherboard that works absolutely flawless with the GC-Titan Ridge, always provided that one also employs SSDT-X299-TB3HP.aml in addition.

Not even under High Sierra I would go for a Nvidia GPU at present, and less for two.. ;)

Your choice..

The most important issue of your proposal already has been answered by @Ellybz... ;)

With respect to TB, I would go for the ASUS X299 Sage WS 10GB + GC-Titan Ridge.

Good luck,

KGP

thanks for your reply.
Are the 2 x Ethernet Intel X550-AT2 supported by some SmallTree driver?

You have to patch the Intel X550-AT2 chip as outlined in my guide though.. then it will work with the SmallTree driver.

Code:
sudo ethtool -E enp225s0f0 magic 0x15638086 offset 0x242 value 0x0a
sudo ethtool -E enp225s0f0 magic 0x15638086 offset 0x243 value 0x00
sudo ethtool -E enp225s0f1 magic 0x15638086 offset 0x242 value 0x0a
sudo ethtool -E enp225s0f1 magic 0x15638086 offset 0x243 value 0x00

Another strange issue with the 970 EVO I did never faced before with SSD under Windows is the display of a black screen with my monitor 4k connected to TB EX3 after waking up.... And no such issue on with the WD SN750 why I don't know...

One last point: I'll have to do a speleology session to install the second NVMe : disconnect the two GPUs, disassemble the lower extension of the PCH coverage before installing it ... not easy ...

Yep both ports are recognized on my board. I would think the non 10G Sage would also work well with the Titan Ridge but don’t have that board anymore to test.

sorry ignore this accidentally posted instead of edited previous post.
