[GUIDE] General Framebuffer Patching Guide (HDMI Black Screen Problem)

Hi Casey,
For grins, I bought the DP to HDMI adapter this weekend. It does not work. I lose signal at the Mojave login screen. I wanted to test the DP connector so that my Mobo patch guide could be completed, no luck. When I use the regular HDMI port (30 hz), Hackintool clearly shows the (red) connection on con0. If I hot swap to the other HDMI port (60hz), Hackintool does not show in red, a connection to con1, even though I have video. If I shutdown, and leave the cable in the con1 port, then boot, Hackintool still does not show a connector on con1. So I'm not sure what to do, if anything, since I have accelerated graphics enabled. Just wanted to assist you with your guide. Suggestions before I return the DP adapter since I don't need it? Screen shots attached.
Hello Dan, thank you for helping to verify the DP port! Even though the adapter did not work, I am confident that the configuration is okay. If someone encounters a problem with this port in the future, they can simply try a different BusID on Index 3.

Not sure why HDMI #2 is not lighting up in red, but as long as you've got a working signal, that's all that matters!

Just looked at it -- that's much better! We have highlights now on Indexes 1 and 2 with 1.7.4. Have you tried the latest Hackintosh v1.7.9?

Nope, but I'll download and see if it works better. Thanks again!

Hackintool v1.7.9 works, shows my HDMI connection on Index 2, as well as on Index 1. Later......

here's a working framebuffer config for the Aorus Master with intel i9 9900k CFL. Took me a while to get it working as there is only 1 video out via HDMI, so troubleshooting was a lil tedious. This thread helped immensely. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing this! It's been added to Post #1.

I believe the configurations for Z390 AORUS Elite and Master are identical, but I've still kept them separate because their respective owners applied slightly different settings for Indexes 1 and 2. The active HDMI port is most likely on Index 3.

@CaseySJ

Morning! Curious, have you or any responders reported any anomalies with video? I've noticed a couple of strange looking screens/emulations, but it seems that the performed task completed successfully. If I can capture something, I'll post it here. Been migrating thousands of pictures/songs to my new "data only" drive. Just want to make sure my data is safe and accounted for.

Later....

Yes there are some reports of graphics glitches with HDMI, such as lack of transparency in Finder windows, dark gray backgrounds in Finder windows instead of light gray, needing to unplug and re-plug HDMI cable after boot, etc. Seems to happen more frequently on motherboards with only one video port, but even this is not a properly substantiated statement. We're still not sure about the cause.

Hi! The HDMI of my RX580 is working but black screen after wake. How can I solve it?
