ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-I Gaming Motherboard specs

On January 11, the update of BIOS 1201 came out. I have not noticed changes.

@Toad - Thanks, I read your post on the Z390 and i7-8700K - any successful builds? thread, and it was your post that led me to using the -no_compat_check boot-arg - a big thank you for your help as well. I'd also be interested whether you are using DP output for your UHD 630? In my case, I needed the framebuffer patches to fix the HDMI Black Screen Problem with my UHD 630, once I'd faked its device-id.

I've also just upgraded to Mojave, and everything went smoothly - GPU acceleration is still working. It appears About Mac is more accurate too, after the upgrade, showing both my UHD 630 Graphics, and Intel i5 CPU:

Yes I’m using the DP port.
Apparently I’ll need to use frame buffer patcher to fix the hdmi port that goes dark right before system desktop shows. Just confirmed that.

Has there been any updates on this? I currently have a Z370N and would like to use an 8400 or 8700, not unlocked. Has there been any improvements on the installation for the Z390 chipset? Would either be the Z390N from Gigabyte or the Z390-I from ASUS.

Not sure what you need but I am 100% up and running. I have an an ASUS Z390-I Gaming with 8700K.

Is all working well? I'm just wary/inexperienced of needing to install kexts and this will be my first build. I guess my main hangup is how much coding/moving files will need to be done. I don't mind swapping the WiFi card as that seems like a pretty simple switch.

Edit: would be either the top AUS one or bottom Gigabyte one

I'm an ASUS motherboard fan boy, but I hear very good things about the Gigabyte. You really don't have to do much; it's pretty automated.

I would recommend getting a used Dell DW1560 WiFi card on Amazon to replace the one on the motherboard. The Intel one that comes with the motherboard isn't compatible. On the ASUS motherboard it was an easy and perfect fit. There are plenty of new Chinese ones available but I preferred to go with known used one and not wait 3 weeks to get it. I paid half what they are asking now so look around.

The only issue I initially had was that after the install was complete, Clover would not install on the SSD for some reason. I needed to do a manual install, and it was pretty much clear sailing from there. I had a few minor issues but the forum was great, especially @pastrychef and a few others.

If you get the ASUS feel free to ping me for help. In fact I wouldn't mind doing a Golden Build post a la @pastrychef so we could validate the install steps.

Edit: The only intricate part was getting continuity and messaging to work. Lot's of steps but it worked.

Sorry I forgot to answer your first question, everything works perfectly, including but not limited to:

1) Continuity
2) 1220 Audio
3) Sleep
4) Bluetooth (AirPods, etc)
5) WiFi
6) Windows 10 on 2nd M.2

Really I can't think of anything that doesn't work.

Oh man, if you did a Golden Build post, I'd buy the Asus board tomorrow

If you can guarantee you'll have me running as if I'm on my MacBook Pro, I'll absolutely get the ASUS. I'm just piecing out parts at the moment so I'd only be missing my storage and CPU. So, it wouldn't be necessary immediately or anything.

Edit: by MacBook Pro I just meant the ecosystem. As that's the only Mac computer I have. haha
