Just an update on the situation. I went ahead and did a clean install of High Sierra 10.13.6 because creating a Mojave USB installer would not work at all - High Sierra install went smooth and the only thing I needed to install in Multibeast after the fact was an ethernet kext. Everything worked fine so I went ahead and installed Photoshop, went to open the same file and once again... crash. This time it wouldn't even open the file, so I seriously have no idea at this point. I've attached my clean install Clover folder just in case anyone wants to take one final look, I could have missed something important. If no one wants to mess with it I understand.

Luckily I have a 2018 Macbook Pro, so if anything goes wrong on my Mojave install I can just take it over there but still... this has been beyond frustrating as a Hackintosher since around 2011.

Does the same file cause a crash on the 2018 MacBook Pro? Not sure if you answered this already.

No, it opens and re-sizes without any issue.

Have you tested other similar and dissimilar apps successfully?

For example if Photoshop is crashing with a file-open or image-resize operation, have you tried the same file and same operation in Pixelmator or GIMP or Affinity Photo, etc.?

Do other media apps crash as well, such as Final Cut Pro or Garage Band or iMovie or DaVinci Resolve?

If it's only Photoshop, then do other Adobe apps crash as well, such as Lightroom or Premiere?

Do you have Quick Look, Preview, Messages and FaceTime fully up and running? In other words, all of your iCloud services are active?

At first it was just Photoshop and Final Cut Pro X. Just now I was watching a 4k video on YouTube via Firefox and it decided to crash during that as well which has never happened. So... it has to have something to do with my graphics card... I just don't know what to do or try anymore. I still haven't flashed my BIOS yet, I think that's the only thing I haven't tried.

Some other things to check:

• Do you have accelerated graphics from the UHD 630? You can check this by running IORegistryExplorer and scrolling the tree on the left side to the node named IGPU. If there's an AppleIntelFramebuffer sub-node attached to this, then the right driver is attached.
• I think you already ran memtest to check for faulty DIMMs?
• If you're using the same disk that you used before, have you run any disk diagnostics (S.M.A.R.T. checks, etc.)?
• Does Quick Look function? You can test this by selecting, for example, a JPEG or PNG file in Finder and pressing Spacebar to do a quick look?

^I may check the first option later. I did find a temporary solution but I'm still not totally satisfied, maybe someone can help me with this other issue.

I went ahead and plugged a cable into the DVI port just to see if it would do the same thing and guess what... no crash at all! Photoshop works fine and re-sizes, Final Cut Pro works totally fine as well. The only problem I had after this was that I was getting a pink screen. So I found a work-around for this here https://www.mathewinkson.com/2013/0...ix-the-picture-quality-of-an-external-monitor which basically forced everything into RGB mode - problem with that is I can't get 4k at 60hz, it will only allow be 4k in 30hz and colors aren't as accurate as the way I had it plugged in via HDMI. I tried tinkering in system preferences and ResExtreme to try different resolutions and neither worked. So my question now is...

1. Is there a way to use my DVI port and still get 4k at 60hz and accurate colors?
2. Is there a better work around than the mathewwinkson link for pink screen?
3. Now that I've pretty much confirmed this is a graphics card issue... could there be a better fix/workaround for when I plug it in via the HDMI port?

I honestly don't mind plugging into my DVI port but only if I can get accurate color and 4k at 60hz. The monitor I'm using is a LG 27UD68-P if that helps. Thanks again guys. I was honestly ready to give up...

PS: Tried display port as well but it crashes the same as when plugged into HDMI.

• In Post #1 you listed the Gigabyte GA-H170 Gaming 3 and Sapphire RX 580 as the components in use. Is that correct or are we talking about the Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming?
• When you say you tried DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort, they were all from the RX 580? (The Gigabyte motherboards in question do not have on-board DisplayPort, but both have DVI and HDMI.)
• DisplayPort is often the most reliable connector in that we see few "black screen" problem reports; most such problems come from HDMI ports.
• DVI does not support 4K60. This is supported by HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.2, both of which exist on the RX 580.
• I am still wondering if the iGPU in your system is causing some of these problems. It would be good to check bullet #1 in the previous reply.
• Have you tried Quick Look?
• If the RX 580 is suspect, one can remove its PCI power cable and use only the IGPU to check system stability. But it may need framebuffer settings for accelerated video. Non-accelerated video may be available from HDMI port.

It's the Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming, all my correct parts and specs are on my profile. All ports I tried are on the RX 580. DVI is the only port that would not crash on me. I will try to check bullet point 1 as soon as I can.

Here is a screenshot from IORegistryExplorer. Everything looked fine to me.

Also, when i have the pink screen the peak resolution is 1440p at 60hz which would be fine by me if I could get rid of the pink screen another way than RGB mode.
