[Guide] Install High Sierra on the HP 8300 Elite / 6300 Pro Desktop PC

Before I start install, with the GT 710 are dual monitors better supported with Sierra? Just happened to see some comments about dual monitor issues in High Sierra. Unfortunately the 8300 that I bought has an i5-3470 so no HD4000 graphics, yet I need dual monitor support.
I doubt that it makes any difference. You could even install Mojave and dual monitors (DVI/HDMI) would work. Which GT 710 did you buy ? Does it have DDR3 or GDDR5 ram ?

The card is an MSI 2Gb fanless DDR3

I’ve been using dual monitors with El Capitan through High Sierra using a 710 2 GB card with no issues.
Excellent. Did you have to build a DSDT patch?

I don't see anything in my notes about adding the second monitor, so I'm pretty sure it just worked. The only reference to DSDT in my notes relates to enabling the onboard audio using this method from trs96 (which I did last April and has since been replaced by a different method):

I did have to do some troubleshooting to get the card working initially with just one monitor, but I'm pretty sure that's because it was my first Hack, and I did it before some of these newer guides existed.

Are you selecting install to /L/E or /S/L/E at this stage ? It should only be /L/E

i'm sorry, i try as you say but it can solve my issues :(

Got everything installed this evening. Super simple, probably the easiest one I've done (since way back at 10.5),
except building the Unibeast installer. It has become very difficult to download a full install app from the App Store, probably by design.
It took me 8 or 10 tries, with 4 or 5 different real Macs, to get an installer that would work for High Sierra. 40+ gigabytes of downloads and attempts to create the USB over two days, was not fun. But once I had a working USB, I installed to bootable desktop in about 45 min.
Migrating my old mac over now, and all is set up except for sound.

Of note: I'm using the GT 710 MSI fanless graphics card, set the BIOS for disabled legacy support, and both monitors work perfectly using the HDMI and DVI-D ports on the card.

Thanks @trs96 for the guide and help.

The install of High Sierra on this HP desktop is nearly as easy as on a real Mac. Not sure what caused all the USB installer problems. Glad to hear you've had success.

8. Make sure you've got the latest versions of Lilu and AppleALC kexts installed to /L/E

Stupid question, how do I verify? And where do I get the latest? Or the one working with this config?

Never mind. Found out!

Thanks!
