No all IntelMausiEthernet.kext work with Mojave 11.14.2. I tested for weeks and found only latest version 2.5.0d0 works:

It's always good to use the latest version. For the Designare Z390, version 2.4.0 also works well.

Not likely to work with my Z97. I used 2.4.1d1 before. It has 20% time to reboot before Apple logo, or not found in Network panel. When it is found, it works well.

Now I changed to 2.5.0d0, it seems above problems are gone.

@CaseySJ Fully agree with all said above. There's definitely a subtle balance that needs to be respected. Because if we add too much stuff manually, it may potentially prevent the system from properly inject all the rest where it all should be.

I've seen a lot of various TB SSDTs, especially in another big thread on another forum. Some of them are very minimal, and some of them are way more complicated. Some guys tried to fully adapt an iMac Pro Thunderbolt SSDT, for example. Still half way there. Some devices connect perfectly, some of them not.

But none of them achieved complete Thunderbolt Local Node implementation which will mean, that Thunderbolt is fully recognized and supported by the macOS.

My belief is that if this particular table TbtOnPch is persist and hard coded for Macbook Pro 2018, it means that most of the magic stuff is done right here, in software. And properly adapting it may allow us to get a complete Thunderbolt support on our systems.

Anyway, I'm also attaching the MBP 2018 IOJones dump, as well as DSDT.aml, TBT-ON-PCH.aml, XHCI.aml files here.

I spent a little bit of time on this last night, but not nearly enough. Some quick observations:

• The Macbook Pro 2018 has four Thunderbolt 3 ports. It seems that a single controller can support only two ports.
• So the Macbook Pro has 2 independent controllers to drive four ports: One on RP05 and the other on RP09.
• As you noted previously, each of these nodes (RP05 and RP09) has an Alpine Ridge controller on UPSB and Titan Ridge as a sub-node on DSB0. So it's a hybrid implementation, which is very strange, but it must be necessary in order to support certain devices.
• In other words, it seems as if Thunderbolt connections are first intercepted by Alpine Ridge and subsequently passed down to Titan Ridge as and when needed (of course this is speculation).

Thunderbolt 3 Hard Drive and USB-C update

Team, I have a OWC Thunderbolt 3 External Drive https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/thunderbay-4/thunderbolt-3
I have regular 3.5" drives in it and can report that I get full speed from everything and it works the same on my build from this thread as it does from my MacBook Pro. (Hot plug, etc.) I also added the USBC breakout cable to the Designare's MB connector and that works as well with an external USB-C drive at full 10G speeds (My drive is ~300M read write) but shows up as a 10g USB device in System Profile.

FCP rendering is solid. I plan on doing a short 4K project this weekend to put it through more paces. All good!

What do you mean by "remove the clover screen"? Do you mean:

• Remove all the log messages in the first 2 screenshots? For this one, please use the new config.plist in my previous post #537.
• Remove the Clover Boot Menu (you can't do this)!!

I use Clover Configurator, in Boot menu, uncheck "-1" and "-v" is any, set Timeout to 0. And select LastBootedVolume in Default Boot Volume. Every time it boots, there is no Clover menu or message, just an Apple logo. It looks like a real Mac.

Clover Doc says you can still press any key to stop it to auto-boot. But I tried that 1 or 2 times and failed, I think I am not fast.

I'm using an Alpenföhn Brocken 3 Black Edition with 2 fans. Currently the fans are connected as follows:

Gigabyte Designare Z390:

• CPU_FAN: Alpenföhn fan 1
• CPU_OPT: Fractal Design PWM Fan Hub
• SYS_FAN1/SYS_FAN2: not connected
• SYS_FAN3_PUMP: not connected

Fractal Design PWM Fan Hub (see manual page 7)

• 3-pin connectors: connectected to the 3 Define R6 case fans
• 4-pin connector (input): CPU_FAN
• 4-pin connector: Alpenföhn fan 2

I was thinking to get some cable extensions, because currently the cables are too short to connect to SYS_FAN1/SYS_FAN2 and SYS_FAN3_PUMP. Hence I cannot see the individual case fans in the bios.

Hi @CaseySJ, a little update on my system.

At the moment I'm in the process of installing my whole array of software/plugins/external gear/synthesizers and so far so good.

I am just experiencing a strange behaviour with external discs, well maybe it's normal, but I better report this.

If I have an external disc attached and remove it without expelling from finder my machine shuts down, it just happens with an USB 2.0 HDD, not with 3.0, ideas?

Anyone dare to slight overclock the 9900k and post a guide, my temps are really low on stock with water cooling?

you have to open the config plist right?

Sure. Mount you EFI of boot drive. Edit the config.plist as I said, remember to set Timeout to 0, not empty. Then save it and reboot. You will not see Clover screen any more.

If you want to see Clover boot screen WITHOUT pressing keyboard to boot macOS, you can set Timeout to a value such that it will wait for the specified seconds and start macOS automatically.

Several questions come to mind:

• Is the USB 2.0 HDD in use by some application or by Finder when you pull the cable without first doing a proper eject?
• Is it repeatable?
• When you say "USB 2.0 HDD, not with 3.0" do you mean shutdown happens only when HDD is plugged into USB 2.0 (black) port, but shutdown does not happen if same HDD is plugged into USB 3.0 port (blue or red)?
• Is the device itself a USB 2.0 device or a USB 3.0 device?
