[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@DJ4MC I believe there’s a free version of DaVinci Resolve for personal use. I’ll download that tonight and see if it crashes.

The 9th Gen CPU and its built-in GPU are not on any shipping Mac so they are not officially supported. But they are nevertheless backwards-compatible, making it possible to use fake IDs.

Regarding motherboard audio, are you using AppleALC 1.3.4? And you are using Inject Kexts = Yes in System Parameters in config.plist? The “detect” function appears to be broken in the version of Clover that accompanies MultiBeast 11.0.1.

The feedback from everyone here is really helping to iron things out, so the thanks goes both ways!!

Hi Casey I'm fine tuning my system, my write/read speeds of my 4tb m.2 and 1tb m.2 are really slow (400mb/s should be Gbs), do I need to disable trim or something?

You mentioned in another thread with wake up from sleep that you were able to power off/on leds, mine stays powered up, it's not really important was just for information.

What are the makes and models of your 4TB M.2 and 1TB M.2 drives?

There are two main types of M.2 drives: SATA M.2 SSD and PCIe M.2 SSD. And there are even different kinds of PCIe M.2 SSDs such as PCIe x2 that use 2 PCIe lanes, and PCIe x4 that use 4 lanes and are the fastest and most expensive kind.

If your M.2 drives are SATA M.2, you will get between 350MB/s and 550MB/s speeds. (That's megabytes, not megabits.) But PCIe M.2 SSDs typically exceed 1000MB/s. My ADATA SX8200 is a PCIe x4 M.2 SSD that reaches nearly 3000MB/s in read.

Regarding LEDs during sleep, all of the fans and lights in my system turn off after about 20-30 seconds when the system sleeps -- except the LEDs on my TridentZ memory, which remain lit. The "AppleIntelCpuPM" checkbox in Clover Configurator is essential for enabling sleep/wake.

Regarding FaceTime and EmuVariableUEFI-64:
In my case I need to have EmuVariableUEFI-64 permanently installed, because otherwise I get an error message as soon as I logout of FaceTime and try to login again.

Is there any need to install the kexts at /L/E? So far I've placed everything in the respective Clover directories within the EFI partition.
I suspect that EmuVariableUEFI-64 is needed to authenticate the machine when you sign into iMessage. So if you need to sign in and out, you might need to keep it. I never sign out of iMessage so I've been able to keep using iMessage without EmuVariableUEFI-64 installed.

Are there any downsides to keeping EmuVariableUEFI-64 installed?

My system was freezing with that driver after I logged into the services.
EmuVariableEUFI-64 should work properly in combination with these two:
  • OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi
  • slide=0 (in Boot arguments)

Are there any downsides to keeping EmuVariableUEFI-64 installed?
The only downside I've seen is that the last-booted-volume in Clover boot screen is not remembered correctly if EmuVariableUEFI-64 is installed without the rc scripts. But if rc scripts are also installed, then there shouldn't be any downside (other than the fact that this motherboard has NVRAM and we won't be using it).

re: "detect" function: Should I update Clover? AppleALC is 1.3.4. I will double check but I am pretty sure I have Inject Kexts = Yes

And, yes there is a free version of Resolve, that is what I use. It is about 90% of the commercial one and for what I do, more than enough power.

I'm using EmuVariableUEFI-64 with installed RC scripts and don't have an issue so far. Therefore I keep EmuVariableUEFI-64 installed. I haven't recognised that Clover doesn't remember the last booted volume correctly, simply because my macOS Volume gets started automatically. I also have Windows 10 installed on a dedicated SSD.
