[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I can try this on my system when I return from vacation in a week. Hopefully others can report their findings. I tested Quick Look with images files but not audio files. However I was able to play music and movies in iTunes (mp3 and Apple Lossless).

I’m using AppleALC 1.3.4 debug, which will be replaced with the Release version when I return.

Oh no but now it’s working ! I believe it’s just a matter of having any kind of audio configured. I’ll stress test it much more tomorrow to be sure everything is all set. Also my USB-C external drive wasn’t recognized through the thunderbolt port so I need to investigate that point. Anyway thanks and merry Xmas !

Yes I saw that you retracted the original post. No worries.

USB-C devices are recognized after installing the Thunderbolt 3 SSDT and its companion, SSDT-DTPG.

Happy holidays! (But don’t look at Wall Street.)

I have everything on order with delivery by Friday. I will use a Samsung 970 M2 drive. Do I still need to: "Your ACPI section should include the SAT0-to-SATA patch if you're installing Mojave onto a SATA SSD."?

Oh and Merry Christmas to all!

Jules

I believe the Samsung 970 is a PCIe M.2 drive and not a SATA M.2 so you may omit the SAT0-to-SATA patch; however, it doesn’t hurt to have it and in fact Post Install procedure calls for it!

@CaseySJ I was also forced to used the modified plist you gave to the other user. Maybe you can add it to the original post (or at least explain the modification you’ve made)? It was a life saver !
Absolutely — my intention is to make the build guide more flexible by supporting some variations in components and connections.

What specific problem did you encounter and was it the config.plist in Post #56 that helped?
