[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Please compress and upload your EFI folder from internal Mojave EFI partition (not USB). Of course, iMessage requires you to login to your iCloud account in System Preferences.

Maybe my Bluetooth version is too low to work.

but my magic keyboard & magic mouse works well.

I will buy your BlueTooth.

and I'll test and try again. :)

Wake from sleep requires 2 key presses on the keyboard, spaced a couple of seconds apart.

Have you fixed this? I have the same situation albeit on a different main board.

I actually don’t see this as a problem! Just glad that sleep and wake-from-sleep are working even if the latter needs two keystrokes instead of one... :)

Good choice of parts! And a nice way to spend part of the holidays.

Can I offer you a challenge to be the first to carry out the full install without encountering any problem? I’m trying to see if the build guide is now self-contained.

Of course if you do run into something evil, we’ll help!
Thanks. I will try and "be that guy" lol. I own a MacBook Pro (2016) and an OWC thunderbolt3 doc. This will let me do some testing. I am also going to use a Samsung 970 EVO 2TB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD as my boot drive. I want to keep my home folder on same drive. I am hoping to use your "Method 2" on this. Will document my build as I go. Once again. Thank you for your work here!

Here comes a new challenger ! After a week trying to make UHD630 work on Aorus z390 pro, I’m moving on to your mobo, since the EFI and the very precise guide should make my build effortless. Anyway, I let you know if I get into trouble! I’ll be on an i9 9900K and a RX580 Pusle from Sapphire, do you think that this changes anything ?

Welcome to the fray! The i9-9900K and Pulse Sapphire should make no difference other than providing even better benchmarks than the ones I posted! The UHD 630 will operate in headless mode where its compute units will be used for HEVC, H.264, Quick Look, Preview, etc. but not for video output. The RX580 will handle fully accelerated video.

However, the AORUS Z390 Pro should be workable as well in the same headless configuration.

Someone reported recently that latest versions of Lilu (1.2.9) and WhateverGreen (1.2.5) even allow accelerated video from the UHD630 if spoofed to deviceID 0x3E928086 in Clover Configurator.

Yeah I know, but I tried everything I could and still no luck… So I’d rather take a much more documented mobo instead. But just to be sure, you’ve got no issue with h264 quick look and full FCPX accelerated right ?

Correct, I haven’t seen any issues. Both iGPU and dGPU are accelerated.

I just built a system with the AORUS but the thoroughness of your build makes me want to switch things out...wow very impressive!
