macOS 10.14.2 Update

Status
Not open for further replies.
To the admin who deleted my post sharing that I experienced kernel panics: I wasn't asking for help, I was reporting that I ran into problems, nothing more. This might be of interest to others thinking about running this update.

UPDATE: resolved by upgrading clover from 4586 to 4784 and temporarily removing the FakeSMC plugins (latest rehabman 1800).

Updated using the Combo update, after that the issue with the internal audio was fixed, everything was smooth.

I updated WITH an issue. My bootloader is blank now. No boot options. Any suggestions on what to do?

Edit: Just to specify, this happened during (or right after) update, maybe 2-3 boots in. So it never successfully updated.

Hardware acceleration and quicksync working? It has been broken since 10.14.1

Hardware acceleration and quicksync working with Vega64 + headless coffee lake iGPU (UHD630)

I have no problem.
He was asking about hardware acceleration AND quicksync (assuming on his RX580).
IQSV is fine but h/w acceleration of H.264 and HEVC is on the RX580 is broken but better on Vega.
All I was trying to point out is that it's fine with IQSV+Vega but not on RX5xx.
I said 100's post (not people).

h/w acceleration for H.264 and HEVC working with Vega64 + headless coffee lake iGPU (UHD630)

I was asking @pastrychef with respect to the Vega. I was curious if it was working without issues because if there is no solution in sight for the RX580 then I was considering upgrading to the Vega. I look to @pastrychef as I've done similar builds to his and trust his advice.
Got it. Your profile shows RX580 and thought you were asking about that card.

BTW:
RX 580 HW Acceleration in H264/H265 works both in High Sierra and Mojave. I'm not sure what are people talking about here.
Tested right now with Final Cut Pro 4k H264 Export in both systems.
How do you know it's using RX580 and not Intel QuickSync?
To check which GPU is being used during playback (with color grading or effects/transitions/titles) or during export, open Activity Monitor -> Window -> GPU History. A report back is much appreciated :)

I updated using the downloaded combo package file.

Apparently the Installer now updates the boot drive selection in NVRAM, since it started to boot a different disk (that has Arch Linux on it) rather than my usual MacOS disk. This seems to be a new feature...

The update went smooth but the audio was not available after rebooting.

So I dis a kext cache rebuild:
  • sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions
  • sudo kextcache -u /
and after an extra reboot the audio was back again.

Updated. I switch to a Sapphire Nitro+
No issues
