@MESwan

I pretty much followed your guide and have had a perfectly working hackintosh. I wanted to copy what you did and got myself a sapphire radeon RX 580 Nitro, installed it and copied your boot flags. The problem is when I try to boot it gets to the apple and progress bar then the display just turns off. I tried uninstalling the nvidia webdrivers but the raulta are the same. Any tip or trick?

Sorry to hear you're having troubles! Have you installed Lilu and Whatevergreen? Boot with -v nv_disable=1 -rad24. If that's not successful, add -raddbg to get a debug output of what is causing the 580 to fail.

Thanks for the reply! Actually, I tried a solution from a post: changing SMBIOS to iMac 14,2. It worked but I don’t know whether I should attempt to get the 17,1 SMBIOS to work or just stick with 14,2.

I might attempt to move to Mojave now instead. We have the same WiFi card. Did it work automatically when you updated to Mojave? Or did you have to tweak stuff some more?

Ahhh, I didn't even consider the SMBIOS change. I run 18,3. The broadcom card is 100% plug and play automagic goodness. Make sure you use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your drive, (don't forget your EFI, this one is manual.) but updating to Mojave should be nice and easy. I've had zero issues on Mojave since my update.

Thanks! followed your steps:

1. Backed up my EFI and recreated a new one with clover updated (I have my bootloader running from a Tiny USB (I have trust issues)
2. Backed up my SSD using Carbon Copy Cloner
3. Updated from the Appstore as if I was on a legit iMac
4. After a few reboots I got into Mojave and everything works as it did on HS

I expected to have to troubleshoot audio and USB ports post install after reading the common issues post but just like WIFI everything was automagic!

I'm still using 14,2 SMBIOS but since handoff and iMessage work fine I don't have any compelling reasons to investigate. I might use your boot flags and try 18,3 SMBIOS tomorrow. backing up took a helluvalotof time!

Thanks for the help though I am now Mojave-fied

Beautiful, congratulations! Honestly dude, I wouldn’t bother with changing the SMBIOS. If you’re getting great results on 14,2, stick with it. Especially since you’re currently 100% operational (assuming sleep works and no weird other things are going on).

Agreed! not like I need to convince anyone I have an actual iMac. quick question though my hack works even without the below bootflags you added:

-rad24, -lilubetaall, nv_diable=1

And I still have the below bootflags set:

darkwake=8, npci=0x2000, -f, busratio=35

I actually dont know what they do but they worked when I first copied them off your guide. Should I just copy your flags or adopt the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality?

If you're having no issues with what you have, I wouldn't bother.

-rad24 enables 24-bit display sending from the RX card to the display. -lilubetaall enables all features of lilu.kext. nv_disable=1 disables all Nvidia injection. darkwake=8 address auto-sleep, and sleep. -npci=0x2000 is the fix for those whose systems stick at 'pci configuration begins'. -f is no kext cache mode. busratio=35 is the clock/cpu multiplier. Calculated for my i7 8700 to ensure it runs at the correct frequencies.

hey, I'm following the install guide to install Mojave on my build, but I always got the failure when installation is left about 2 minutes.
my CPU is i7-8700 same as your, and my motherboard is MSI B360m MORTAR.
I want to know what should I do when I created the bootable USB drive, can I just paste all your EFI folder to mine? And how about the install flag? should I do some boot flag set before the first install?
PS: I'll install it on Samsung 970 Pro and I think there is no compatibility issue(also got a RTX2070, will unplug it when Installation)

With any luck your 970 will be just as painless to use as my 960. What failure message are you receiving, exactly? As far as I know, there are enough subtle differences between the Mortar and Gaming Plus that a direct copy may not work, but it's certainly worth a shot.

There's no way for you to use your RTX 2070 with your Hackintosh - nor any macOS based computer, as Nvidia has yet to release any web drivers for Mojave, or even the RTX line in general. You will either need to drop in an RX5XX or Vega card for discrete GPU, or you will need to set your system up for/with iGPU until Nvidia gets around to a web driver release.

Your MSI Board requires OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi and EmuVariableUefi-64.efi to be installed, so ensure that you have them in the correct place. Set your boot flags as: UseKernelCache=No busratio=35 darkwake=0 dart=0 -v

Thanks! that would help a lot. I didn't mark down the failure but I 'll give another try this weekend. Using your entire EFI folder and make sure the boot flag and certain efi file are there. I'll mark the failure this time

About the RTX card, I plan to totally disable it on Hackintosh and use 2 video cables for motherboard and graphics card. I play game on Windows with RTX card and just daily use on MacOS, so the iGPU would enough for me. So I can just switch the video output of my monitor to use different system.

My driver is 970 EVO 250g, not 970 Pro, sorry for the mistake. It's there any potential problem with this driver? I bought this cause it's in the buyer's guide, thought it would be flawless.

Thanks again! It's really helping :D
