Sure, why not?

My black screen turned to a black screen with working cursor using the W7000... I'll wait for the VEGA 64. After that I guess it's time to go back through your Mojave guide step by step. I REALLY didn't want to go through this all over again and I am too embarrassed to ask @izo1 to bail me out again :oops:

Sorry for jumping late in this conversation but I'm pretty sure that your black screen is not related to your GPU. I'm running Mojave 10.14.1 with RX580 with 3 monitors connected ( DP, HDMI, DVI ) _ and I have not encountered any issue whatsoever. ( except wake after full sleep ) My board is very similar to yours. Bios is also similar. Please put your EFI & saved IOReg on line so others can look at it and help you. Otherwise, this conversation is just a bit sterile..
Also ..what Clover version are you using?

Soon... I owe it to KGP to go through the guide properly first. Checked/set the BIOS settings tonight. What I have attempted is a tweaked version of what @izo1 did for 10.13.4. Mainly I replaced whatevergreen and Lilo with latest stable (1.2.4/1.2.8) and Clover 4769. 10.13.4 works so well I hate to mess it up. I also have a 12 drive RAID using a highpoint card. I think I need to pull that card until I get the rest worked out.

If you have a Designaire EX v1.0, what version of BIOS are you running? I need to make sure I have the right version of BIOS before I get into everything else. I have F3 but there are F4c and F4h versions available.

Thank you for offering.

In general, it is good idea to go through the guide. However, if you need any additional help from us, you will have to upload your EFI-Folder and IOREG.save anyway.

I am sure we can manage to achieve a working and stable system also in your case... ;)

No need to be embarrassed, I ask terrible questions all the time here.

Anyway, you can alwyas install fresh Mojave with KGP guide step by step if you really want to, then during the welcome screen (after installing) you can restore your previous macOS with a time machine backup and it will come back to life just the way it was before in a previous install.

Here’s what you need to do:
1) use a cheap 2tb external (usb3.0) or internal HDD for Time Machine

2) Run time machine in your high Sierra install and let it do it’s thing (it may take an hour+ depending how big your current macos install is

3) clone your current macos high Sierra install to another ssd (I use CloneZilla, it’s free and does a 1:1 bit for bit copy of your drive including hidden partitions like EFI. Note you will need to match exactly the sizes of the clone drive. For example a 970pro cannot clone to a Evo drive of the same size because Evo is 1000GB and 970Pro is 1024GB

Or put in a spare ssd for your new Mojave install and disconnect your working high Sierra strive so you can get back up and running in case you need to

4) Once you’re done with 1-3, install Mojave on a clean fresh target drive (I usually boot into windows and use diskpart/clean command from admin command prompt to wipe any drive, or you can do it through terminal with gpt destroy command. In either case, make sure you disconnect manually all drives you are not usung when you do this because accidents happen.

5) use KGP guide on page 1 in this thread and do a step by step clean install and once you’re on the welcome screen (not in the setup screen, this is after macos is installed) it will ask you if you want restore from time machine backup or from another drive (external or internal) but I do not recommend the second option I have had issues a few times on hackintoshes. So in other words, pick your time machines latest backup (the new time machine you just made).

Also note during this time of restoration you will be using your usb stick to boot from since your internal ssd doesn’t have proper efi files.

6) give it a couple of hours depending on how big your data is or if your time machine is a hard drive or ssd

7) once you boot back into macos Mojave, it will be as if you moved everything from high Sierra.

8) continue tweaking your ssd installs efi partition with custom config files and kexts as normal

If anything doesn’t make sense let me know :)

Does anyone have a similar issue to mine with H264 not being accelerated?
