Almost fully functional Acer Nitro 5!

What folder should I put those EFI files in?

The fact that you have to ask that question suggests that you are not reading the Clover guide. I cannot just give you my EFI folder because it is configured for my specific Acer Nitro 5. Even if they are the same Brand and model name, there are differences that will throw your machine off. Like the fact that you have an 8th Gen Core-i5 and I have a 7th Gen. The chipset and other hardware is different. You have a GTX 1050 and I have a 1050 Ti. (Which depending on how your bios is set up, may require different patching to disable the nVidia chip.)

You must also make sure you have the latest BIOS installed. It may improve compatibility and this would prevent you from having to re-patch your DSDT immediately after you install macOS. Not to mention the fact that you will more than likely have to switch out the WiFi/BT module that is pre installed because it is not compatible with macOS.

It goes without saying that you need to have the USB drive and the BIOS settings configured correctly for the installer to boot. For starters, you have the files that belong in the driversUEFI64 inside the kexts folder. AFPS.EFI also belongs in the driversUEFI64 folder. The kexts that are recommended in the Clover guide also belong in EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other folder. you can delete all of the other folders in the kexts folder besides the Other folder.

Please read the Clover guide thoroughly and reconfigure your USB drive. The first page of this thread also described what was done and kexts that were used to activate certain hardware. Please understand that not every option will work for you as manufacturers will use different hardware between different models and revisions. Please tailor your USB to YOUR specific machine.

Please see post #81 above. Even if we have the same model laptop, there are differences between my your laptop and mine. It is not hard at all to patch the Intel UHD 630 and disable your GTX 1060. There are guides to do it for your specific configuration. I cannot just give you my EFI because it has patches to my specific machine and hardware. At least try to patch it on your own. Thank you.

Please read the VooDooI2C guide. Just adding the kexts will not make it work without the proper DSDT edits. It should be in the laptop FAQ's.

How could you make operating GTX 1050 ti on your laptop (Acer nitro 5), because you write in your description "GTX 1050 Ti 4GB @ 1920x1080" , or i've only just misunderstood it. I've got a same laptop.

Thank you

The description includes the GTX 1050 Ti because it is included in my system, however I have to disable it completely because it is not compatible in macOS with the Intel HD630 GPU in the same machine. (nVidia Optimus). In Windows, the GTX 1050 Ti works beautifully. In macOS, I am forced to only use the Intel HD630.

Hey everyone,
I have purchased a new laptop that is more modern than the Elitebook 8770w I was using prior. I now have an Acer Nitro 5 Gaming laptop that I plan on dual booting Windows 10 and macOS 10.14. As the title shows, I almost have everything working on this system. Let me attach my hardware specs and what is/isn't working :

Intel Core i5-7300HQ (2.5Ghz-3.5Ghz)
Intel HM175 Chipset
Intel HD 630 Graphics and nVidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti w/ 4GB GDDR5 VRAM
A-Data 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz RAM
Intel 256GB NVMe 600P PCI-E SSD (Windows)
Seagate 480GB SATA III SSD (macOS)
Windows Trackpad using I2C Bus (Synaptics Based Pad)
Broadcom BCM943602BAED Wireless AC + BT 4.1 NGFF Card (Dell DW1830) (On order, using older BCM94360CS2)
Realtek 8111 Based Ethernet
Realtek High Definition Audio (ALC256 Codec)
Clover UEFI r4674 running macOS Mojave 10.14

Power Management: Working. Don't hear fans speeding up. Followed PM guide.
Sleep: Working. Used the _PRW DSDT patch 0x6D for Skylake.
Video: Working. Used latest Lilu/IntelGFXfixup and Prealloc Fixup. Full QE/CI/Res. Disabled nVidia Graphics w/ DSDT edit.
Audio: Working. Used layout-id 13 in conjunction with AppleALC kext's 1.2.8 version + CodecCommander.
NVMe: Working. Intel Drive is recognized by the system and can read/write to it but I'm using that drive for Windows.
KB/TP: KB is working w/ VoodooPS2 V2018-0922. TP is working with VoodooI2C V2.1.4 and disabling of Apple's I2C drivers.
WiFi: Working. Used AirportBRCMFixup.kext to resolve speed issues. Airdrop supported
Bluetooth: Working. Used BRCMPatchRAM2.kext and BRCMFirmwareRepo.kext to enable BT. Handoff/SMHS supported.
Ethernet: Working. Using the Realtek Ethernet kext.
Battery: Working. Used Rehabman's ACPIBatteryManager.kext
Brightness: Working. Used the Brightness patch from the AppleBacklightInjector.kext
Shutdown/Restart: Working.
USB: Working. Created an SSDT for USBInjectAll and ensured only ports installed are active.

can you explain how did you manage to make the trackpad work, please? I have the same model laptop, everything is working fine but I can't make the trackpad work
Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately not, I had to disable the nVidia chip to get the onboard Intel HD 630 to work off the internal display. The HDMI port is directly linked to the nVidia chip. If I can find a way to re-enable the nVidia chip and have the system default into the Internal Display and use HDMI with the nVidia chip, then it may work. But I would not know where to begin with that or know if something like that would even work.

If anyone would like to chime in with any ideas, I'm more then welcome to try it!

I have the exact same machine (just bought recently). Theoretically it should work, but it would need a couple of workarounds. First is you'd need to create a clone of your existing system and boot with that instead (using 10.13). Second you'd need to install the Nvidia OSX drivers and the NVRAM settings in Clover. Regarding implementation, you could perhaps try the method used for the Nvidia card here > https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...-samsung-960-evo-nvme-thunderbolt-ex3.240368/
