iMac Pro X299 - Live the Future now with macOS 10.14 Mojave [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Hey KGP, have you seen better GPU performance with 10.14.2?

There was another thread where a user mentioned 10.14.2 adds support for hardware HEVC/H264 to non iGPU Mac SMBIOs. (Maybe this will fix the Premiere Pro OpenCL/Metal system freeze on non iGPU systems)....Apple knows the issue and maybe they will implement it in 10.14.2.

Will be moving to Mojave when 10.14.2 official is out :)

Hopefully I can help in this thread (even tho most of my posts are useless anyway  )

I think you'll find HEVC/H264 hardware encoder found on those graphic cards useless for your use. They were never designed to run fast, but just provide real-time encoding/decoding capabilities.

Software encoder/decoder typically provides greater speed.

To give an example, on the 1080Ti, using ffmpegs h264 software decoder this machine can do > 980 fps for a 1080p stream using the i9. At best the 1080Ti gives me 120fps with no filter active on the same content

Anyone know how to hide "Boot Windows from EFI"?

Nah
In Adobe Premiere they added iGPU support (which X299 doesn’t have) and H264 export beats every other hardware there is including 18 core cpus etc. including CUDA.

Oh by the way, is Night Shift working for you in Mojave? We have the same monitor. @kgp

It worked fine in High Sierra...but doesn't show up in Mojave.
Im using "nightowl" for dark mode. Quick toggle between light and dark mode. Much better than Mojave native mode. Works also well with dynamic desktop.

PS : Just realized that night shift refers to something else. Please skip my last post.

Yeah that's a good app, I have it on my MBP.

NighShift warms up the display which are easier on your eyes when you're not doing color-accurate work like Photoshop, etc. Really a good feature to have.

I used to use Flux, but once NightShift was a thing, I removed it.

Do you use my truncated 15-port XHC USB kext for the ASUS Prime X299 Deluxe and did you disable the USB port limit patch in your config.plist?

Yes I did . It seems that its now down to just the Keyboard.
If I just unplug the keyboard and plug it back in at login.
Keyboard starts to work and I can go on like normal. Finds all the other Usb without having to do this unplug and plug back in routine.
The keyboard is a Corsair k95
Was not an issue before upgrading to Mojave..

anyone tried to rip out the built in WIFI and put in a macbook WIFI card with m.2 adapter on the Asus x299 prime deluxe? I am thinking of trying that so I dont have to use the PCIE adapter and will save myself 1 internal usb2.0 header.

I have done that in the other thread, but it’s not as simple as you think.

You must use kexts but I had 2.4Ghz interference on Bluetooth devices so I instead removed the kexts and put back my old OSXWifi card combo in the pcie slot and it works better now.

Also you can’t use a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard without the PCIe card.

I did not do it on the Asus x299 prime deluxe but on my ASRock x299-ITX/ac board and it works without additional kexts like the "real thing" from Apple. WiFi and Bluetooth.
I mentioned it here briefly: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...-extended-guide.229353/page-1007#post-1798917

You might need and want to adapt your USB.kext and SSDT to your specific system.

Non Apple recommended eGPU cards

Great guide! It inspired me to go and buy parts for a whole new hackintosh based on PRIME X299-DELUXE !
However I think I've managed to screw up my procurement of the graphics card, a ROG-STRIX-RXVEGA64.

I've just realised that it's not on the list of Apple recommended eGPU cards, and I think I'm in trouble for that!

I've tried for three days to make a bootable Mojave install usb but to no avail. The boot process ends with IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3 message. Just before that I also se a message: X86PlatformPlugin::configResourceCallback - DeepSleep is not supported! - and right after that IOPPF: XCPM mode and then DSMOS has arrived.

Do you think I should return the card and get an "approved" one ?

I've posted about it here with all required details / files.
