[Guide] Intel Skylake NUC6 (and Skull Canyon) using Clover UEFI (NUC6i5SYK, NUC6i7KYK, etc)

Thanks as always RehabMan for the clear instructions. I had been running my Skull Canyon NUC with macOS 10.12.6 and just upgraded to Mojave 10.14.0.

I have a Samsung PM961 NVMe boot drive, which required the HackrNVMeFamily.kext in 10.12.6. 10.14 supports the PM961 natively. My NUC failed to boot after upgrading and reported a conflict with the Apple NVMe driver in verbose mode, but I removed the HackrNVMeFamily.kext (by booting the installer and using the Terminal), and now Mojave boots from NVMe. This might be worth adding to the HOWTO.

Sounds like you were using HackrNVMeFamily without using the class-code spoof.
It is covered in detail HackrNVMeFamily, which is indirectly linked by post #1 here.
So... nothing to do on that front.

My monitor is a 4K ASUS PB287Q, and it works over DP as before including scaled HiDPI resolutions. In 10.12.6, turning the monitor off and back on would make macOS hang or reboot, but in 10.14 that seems to be fixed, so three cheers!

No audio over DP (as was the case in 10.12.6), but I haven’t spent any time on that yet and intend to investigate further.

Audio via DP working just fine here on my NUCi7KYK, attached to Dell U3011.

Hi RehabMan,

Really hoping you can shed some light on my issue. I've followed all the instructions and have made it through the initial stages of installation with no problems.

After installing and booting into the initial setup screen from the HDD (choose timezone, keyboard layout etc.) the NUC completely freezes after about 3 - 5 seconds. The furthest I've been able to get is to the Create User Account screen (after Network Setup screen). Sometimes it reboots after freezing, sometimes it just freezes and stays like that.

My Clover file is attached. Many thanks.

Edit: It's a clean install of Mojave

You should add Lilu.kext and WhateverGreen.kext to Clover/kexts/Other.
Other than that, your EFI/Clover looks as expected.

what igm-platformid should I use for skull cannon, Intel Iris Pro Graphics 580 is not included in the list.

No idea which "list" you're referring to.
This guide already injects the correct ig-platform-id for the NUC6i7KYK.
I think you need to read post #1 and follow it carefully.

Thanks mate, I added Lilu and WhateverGreen to the USB installer but unfortunately had the same issue after booting into the setup screen.

So I started from scratch with High Sierra and so far everything seems to be fine. I've managed to get to the end of your tutorial without a freeze-out.

So my next question - Is upgrading to Mojave as simple as running the Mojave installer and re-running the scripts from the NUC repo?

Thanks

Not possible to comment without PR files.

System updates are covered in post #1.
I have nothing more to add.

All I want to say is ,thank you for your work.
At last I got everything running as it should.
