Hi I would like to install/upgrade my Mavericks to a new version of OSX cause some of my Audio software doesn't work anymore (I am a composer working with high end audio software, some of the latest versions of my sample libs software like VSL VI PRO or the new version of Cubase 9.5 are not supported in Mavericks. I've delayed as much as possible the upgrade process of my MAC OSX but now I need to change my system because I need to install the software updates. So I need assistance:
1. How I can do it?
2. Is HS or Mojave compatible with my Sandy Bridge system?
3. Can I use Clover again (like the last time) or I need to switch to UniBeast and what are the differences between them?
4. I will need to upgrade or to make a clean installation?
5. Which guide should I follow?
P.s. Like now, I need that the USB ports, the integrated FW 400 port, the integrated WIFI, and the discrete GPU work well after the post-installation....I don't need of the other component like integrated HD3000 gpu, bluetooth or power managment ecc.
Thanks in advance for support
All the best
Emiliano

(2) High Sierra may still work with your system, but Mojave won't, because of your old graphics card which lacks Metal support.

I strongly suggest you upgrade to a newer Metal supported graphics card, such as an AMD RX 560, or a second hand older Nvidia card such as GT 740 and GTX 760 first. These cards have Metal support and are natively supported in High Sierra and Mojave.

(3) Unibeast itself uses Clover to boot, so if you are already using Clover you can continue to do so. You will need to upgrade to newer versions of Clover to be able to boot High Sierra and Mojave.

(4) It will probably be better to go for a clean installation.

(5) You can check the Installation Guides under Guides at the top of this forum. They use Unibeast.

ok thank you very much....I have another 2 questions:
1. in the app store I can't download a copy of High Sierra App (It display me only Mojave), do you know an alternative way to download MacOs High Sierra in order to make a bootable USP for a clean installation?
2. If I phisically change my Maverick system SSD with an empty one (obviously formatted with Journal file system), make an USB installe with High Sierra and than installing High Sierra with Unibeast in this new SSD.....I can test the new system but at any time I can put again my old SSD inside my case and switch to my old working Maverick it is right?

(1) Already answered.
(2) Yes, you should be able to do just that. But note that if you install High Sierra on a SSD, the SSD will be converted to use the new APFS file system instead of HFS.

Sorry what is it means?

High Sierra (and Mojave) has switched to using Apple's new file system APFS (Apple File System) on SSDs. When you install High Sierra on a SSD, even if the SSD has been formatted to use the old HFS Journal file system, during the installation the disk's file system will be converted to APFS.

APFS is only compatible with High Sierra and Mojave, not with older versions of MacOS.

I can't boot High Sierra from my bootable USB stick....
I've done it with Unibeast fo High Sierra, than I set all the BIOS parameters following this guide. If I connect my monitor to my discrete GPU Nvidia GT 8600 I see the bootloader menu (Clover) but the boot doesn't work givin' me a black screen....In verbose mode it give me a kernel cache error. If I set the flags (into clover) in slide=0 the verbos mode report doesn't give me any error but at the end of the booting process it blocks (after the ---------------- line of th verbose mode). I'v tried also to set the iGpu option in my BIOS to boot with HD3000 but the monitor connected to the VGA iGPU port remain black without signal......I don't know what I can do.....and I don't understand how use or install the Nvidia Web Drivers in my USB boot key, do you think it is a problem with my old GPU? Could Nvidia web drivers solv this issue? Help m please
thanks

I have also tried to do an USB key with version 13.6 and 13.1 of High Sierra....and I also tried to putting the kext and driver64 files of my working Mavericks EFI into the EFI partition of the USB key.... but the problem is the same: at clover boot screen i follow th guide and activate verbose mode and slide=0 flags but the booting process freezes ith ++++++++++ line

Do you think if i try to install El Captain (or maybe Sierra) instead of High Sierra I would have the same issues? or maybe all will be easier? I don't know the differences, concerning the Nvidia old card, between the two OS systems.

I think the issue I have is caused by my Nvidia 8600 gt gpu card. Could you confirm it and advice me how can I walkaround the problem?

Thanks
