2006 mac mini mods??

I was thinking something more subtle. A light that doesn't capture the attention. like apple did with the lock button on the silver macbook pro's. It was glowing slowly when sleeping and off when using the computer. I just don't know how to achieve that.

This morning I found a board that could fit in the mac mini 2007. It's the Gigabyte GA-H110MSTX-HD3. My current concern is about the dc in connector. Does someone knows the size of it? and I can't seem to find how much power I should send in there. What I would like to do is keep the original mac mini power brick to supply this one.

Any thoughts?

Slightly off topic... I don't understand why Apple doesn't make a new tiny mac mini using the MacBook motherboard. THAT would fit in your pocket.

Probably have to do a mini-arduino (there should be space if no DVD), just don't know where you would pull power from the motherboard yet, I will have to probe when it's in sleep mode.

After seeing someone else doing the project I decided to do it and will order the parts in a couple of weeks, here's the list:
-Deskmini 310 from eBay
-WD SSD 240GB M.2 2280 from newegg
-Crucial DDR4 8Gb Sodium from newegg
-Intel I3 8100 CPU from newegg
-Dynatron K2 CPU cooler from newegg

Does anybody know if this card works great?

Yes, that card works but needs a few kexts for full macOS compatibility.

Well! Yesterday I ordered the deskmini 110. I decided to go with this one instead of the 310 because people are having problems with hdmi sound on it. I also found breathing led's with micro controller built into them on eBay. I ordered some cool white of those and blue ones for power and HDD activity. I will block the cd slot with a plexiglass and include those led's in the plexi. I will update once I get the goods by the mail. :)

Here's a link in case somebody else is interested:

Would anybody know what cpu is best for streaming Plex, kodi, Youtube and things like that? I've got my eye on a 7500t Cpu right now but I don't know if it will be strong enough. Google gives contradictory information about that but they often that about game streaming, which I have no idea what that is...

a 7500t should be fine- what format is most of your media in? Anything of the past 2-3 generations should be strong enough for most things, though I don't know off the top of my head where h.265 support factors in or higher resolutions like 4k. But even at 4k I think you should be okay with a 7500t.
