[solved] UHD 630 either not booting or no acceleration on Dell XPS 15 9570 4K

The heck... mine says 10W while idle! How??? I'll take 1.5W over 10W any day.

Sleep: I don't have working sleep! Surprise surprise. It never goes into S3 sleep and when I wake the laptop, the screen stays black with the backlight on.

Also, @ mods: is there someplace we can make a "device support" thread? This is becoming a catch-all thread for the XPS 15 9570 4K and it's a little odd.

Check: https://github.com/Xigtun/xps-9570-mojave

I quickly tried this and it fixes the brightness issues + controls from the very start... I'm not saying that this is 'the' solution to everything but I intend to learn from this person's configuration and integrate it into my own... as it seems quite a bit different and yet seems to be working fine !

Thanks,
Roel

Does sleep work for you with this Clover from that github? I'm using it and it doesn't work. Everything else is great

Not yet. I’ve been booting from USB till now and have little time each week to play with this so I’ve not looked into solving it yet.

The trackpad is working all but great for now and should probably use Voodooi2c for more MacBook-ish performance. Right now I’m using a Magic Trackpad 2 which isn’t as cramped and works great.

Thunderbolt is’nt plug and play yet and there is a chance that it can be made to work like on a real Mac. There has been some progress on another forum with the Titan Ridge TB3 controller..

Things like iMessage etc also works (as was to be expedited), but I’m slightly worried about the serial number at some point ending up in a real MacBook (and blocking my account), as a lot of the generated serial numbers actually existed at Apple already when checking for warranty coverage. Checking if the serial number is a ‘valid candidate’ at everymac doesnt work for macbookpro15,1 serial numbers yet btw.... but as I see it that has always been a ‘typing error check’ anyway.

Sounds good. I'm also thinking about switching to voodooi2c eventually but not right now, as last when I asked voodooi2c only worked under polling mode (more cpu cycles/higher battery usage) for coffee lake CPUs right now until they figure out how to get interrupt mode working for coffee lake.

Let me know if you get sleep to work. It's the last thing I have left until I can use macOS as a daily driver (I don't care about HDMI, thunderbolt - those things can be solved later)

This works on my 9570 with 1080p screen too by changing the patch from 4 lanes to 2 lanes
Hey, could you please share your EFI folder? I'm struggling with my 1080p XPS 9570 too.

EDIT:
Finally got it working by using this patch from FireWolf for macOS 10.14.* (original thread)
Code:
Info: ALT: Set the maximum link rate in DPCD buffer to 0x0A (HBR) for laptops with 1080p or below display (by FireWolf)
Name: AppleIntelCFLGraphicsFramebuffer
Find: 4883C304 4883FB08 72D0
Repl: 807DC100 7504C645 C10A
