Asus UX410UQ - Clover

I updated to Mohave in my Asus UX410UA with an Intel HD620 graphics card, the update wasn't smooth at all so I decided to make a clean installation using a USB created with the guide for laptops in tonymacx86 forum. This time everything was smooth, and I got everything working just like it used to work in Sierra, but I noticed a weird artifact when Mojave shows gradient fills or blurs. This are displayed in a "ring like" manner, and I have also discovered that it is a problem of how the OS shows images in general, because Youtube videos and other images with gradients are also shown weirdly. When I take a screenshot of the problem and try to see it in another computer, it shows it just fine. So I'll post picture of the screen taken with a camera, to exemplify.

This is the blured background of Launchpad.

Info about my system:

- Asus UX410UA

- i3 7100u

- Intel HD620

Kexts I'm using (Injecting with Clover, as I am not completely happy with the result yet, once it's running perfectly as HS did I'll install to /L/E):

DSDT Patches:

- Audio Layout 3

- bat Asus N55SL/Vivobook

- OS Check Fix (Windows 10)

- GPIO Controller Enable SKL+

- AsusNBFnKeys patches

I've already tried changing ig-plaform-id to all of the available in Clover Configurator, injecting EDID extracted from Windows, and using NoVPAJpeg.kext (which I deleted afterwards because it didn't make a difference so I figured I didn't need it) with no success.

I've also tried this guide here:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/fix-corrupt-color-depth-in-high-sierra-mojave.262495/ also with no success, so

Has anyone run into the same issues? Has someone fixed it somehow?

It's not a really big problem actually, because I mainly use macOS for programming, but it is annoying when I want to watch a movie or video.

I attach information files.

Yeah... same issue here. I've tried what you've mentioned, to no avail.
I've got an ASUS UX360CAK, Mojave, i7-7y54 with a HD 615.. I've attached a screenshot of my launchpad.

Same problem for me. And nothing works, neither FIX EDID app (which worked for the same issue on High Sierra) nor manual Clover EDID injection (IOreg reports changed EDID, but the problem is still there). Seems like Apple changed something inside their drivers. I think more people might be affected than people who actually report this issue because it's so easy not to notice it.

Did you try this?

@RehabMan fork of WhateverGreen / Spoof_fix2 branch added support for skylake spoofing.

It fixes the HDMI problems and the blur and super pixelated images/shadows on Kaby Lake Platform on macOS Mojave.

i attached the kext that i built from source.

You have to change ig-platform-id & device-id to skylake, via config.plist /Devices/Properties/PciRoot(0)/Pci(0x02,0) here is my example on my Lenovo V330-15IKB with Kaby Lake R/UHD 620:

Skylake Spoofing.png

copy the kext to desktop, open terminal and write these commands:
Code:
cd desktop
sudo cp -R WhateverGreen.kext /Library/Extensions/
Then you rebuild caches with:
Code:
sudo kextcache -i /

Enjoy your laptop display at it's best.

It works! A solution, finally. Thank you, this issue was driving me crazy. And I did not even need RehabMan's forked kext (i forgot to install it the first time, just changed ig-platform) and it still worked.

Something doesn't sound right about what you did...

No "Problem Reporting" files attached.
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.

Use the gen_debug.sh tool mentioned in the FAQ, that way it is less likely you'll omit something.

Spoofing Skylake also fixed my problem with the wrong color depth since Mojave!
I exactly followed Sniki's description.
My GPU is still recognized as an Intel HD620 though.

Which disadvantages does spoofing actually bring? So far I did not notice any, especially since Mojave still seems to think that I have a HD620.

@Sniki where's the whatevergreen supported for skylake spoofing, can you tell me this fork of whatevergreen. I also need it, maybe it could solve my black screen issue with HD630. thx a lot!
