I wonder if the Vega64 is vastly different from the 56 relative to these settings? The only thing I modified was the idle speed.

I think that there will be at least some difference since Vega 64s run a bit hotter than Vega 56es. I think that the "target temperature" should be set a little higher for Vega 64, maybe around 60.

Idle speed and target speed should be set similarly to help keep the GPU temps low.

Alright - I've adjusted accordingly and we'll see how it goes. :)

I seem to have HS ports only with just one SS port. As stated though, I don't use any Thunderbolt ports so can't comment there.

I think you are confusing the 3.1 port with the 3.0 ports. I am referring to the SS ports which are the 3.0 ports.
The 3.1 port is handled natively through a different controller but even that one is slow.
Last I heard the TB ports were MiniDP until Apple switched to the USB-C format.

Ah, OK, I see what the issue was - the SS ports are only visible when "active" (something plugged in).

How are you determining the port speed?

I was trying to use a USB 3.0 Powered Hub... but it was not showing up anywhere so I'll try something else, like a USB 3.0 Flash drive.
I'll have to try this another time as I have a tech guy from Spectrum stoping by in a few minutes and I'll be off line until he leaves.

With regard to the Vega64 card... I am happy to report that everything is, indeed, smoother and working much better. Well, it should be, considering that Apple supports these chips natively. Yes, I did have to adjust the fans using a kext, and that made things a lot better.

I do wish that the NVidia drivers were better as I would prefer an NVidia card, but perhaps NVidia really can't do much about that.

So, if you are considering building your own machine, consider a Vega 64 instead - a reference style cooler is a safer bet than the non-reference variety.

Updated to Mojave - no issues.

Process:

1. Back up system (I used Carbon Copy Cloner).
2. Update Clover.
3. Update kexts.
4. Download & install Mojave. I believe I had two reboots (I didn't count).
5. Enjoy Mojave!

I somehow missed that you had updated to Mojave. However, since you switched to an AMD card our systems no longer match. The 1080Ti that I have will cause me to wait until nVidia get their drivers updated.

p.s. - You signature still shows an nVidia card... look at the bottom of your posts.

Thanks for that - gonna be fixed in a jiff!

I'm in the same boat, my "real" MacBook Pro has Mojave, but waiting for this box for the web drivers to be released. Hope it happens soon...
